Richo at Ground-Level

Post: # 1727150Post Sainternist »

That third quarter was one of the better quarters I'd seen this year, perhaps the best quarter. I liked seeing the coach at ground level and talking to his players face to face. There was something old fashioned and blue collar about it. He should stick to doing that and not retreat in going up to box. It seemed to make the players stand taller, making them more accountable and also added to their morale.

That was a coincidence.

We need an innovator that can develop talent, develop a strong game plan and have the creative flair to inspire his team each week. All Richo was doing was following a trend

I'm not sure I can take anything you say seriously after what you said about Carlisle in the match thread.

It seemed to me that the players were largely ignoring Richo at ground level when he was speaking- no one acknowledging him or looking him face to face like the Hawks guys do with Clarko.

It was a question. I didn't state categorically that I was 100 % certain that he was soft.

Anyhow, how'd you rate Sam's game last night? That's one thing you can never say about Gilbo

That's right. Richo knew the camera was on him, and it was a desperate coach looking for answers to our woes but the players didn't look that interested. As I said, he was just copying what other coaches have done to make himself look like he is trying everything possible. It may not have even been his idea. Maybe Lethlean demanded he do it

he saw clarko do it and thought 'halo effect' and mimicked him. doesn't strike me as the type with the initiative to come up with an idea on his lonesome.

Yep.

Clarko did it against us in the 3rd quarter two weeks ago.

Dumb-ass just copied that without really knowing why.

I was at the game in Tassy.... Clarko was only about twent meters from me... The players listened intently he talked face to face a lot of the time. they nodded or spoke back to him
There was a lot more interaction . From the look of it on TV the players didn't give AR much feedback...

i was at the game, had the binoculars aimed at the bench, every player i saw, had the same 'whatever' body language
displayed.

I handed the binoculars around, and others near me said the same.

I must have been close to you.
The other strange thing I notice was Geary. He didnt really speak to other players at all. Just sat by himself.
Was all very gloomy down there at ground level.

Meanwhile the Hawks players looked like they knew what they were doing. Well drilled.

Query, if Richo spends more time at ground level, who's running the show upstairs?

(Maybe Richo at ground level for a few weeks might be a good thing: give the Assistants an opportunity to make some moves while Richo faffs about on the sideline.)

He's gone to ground (level) before either last year or maybe the one before.

Funny cause I too got the exact same message
Players didn't look interested at all
From where I sit - a long way away- they looked like they were stuck talking to that pissed uncle at the BBQ just wishing he'd leave them alone...
Not good
