Steel going onto Fyfe in the third turned the game dick head.

I get it. But he does have talent, we’ve seen it before. Something’s not right upstairs and if he can’t get it right himself (mind you, he is not the only one on the team), then the club must do something about it.saintkid wrote:How often are we going to feel bad for him still? Agree- Steel did a great job, better than Acres in the role.

Billings disposal in the 3rd got us into it. I’m stuffed if I know why Richo leaves him one against 3 deep.

3 observations from tonight's game:-
Fanastic debut by Ed Phillips
We desperately need to somehow score more goals - forward line is impotent
Armo is cooked - needs to give it away

Don't blame the players. They do what they are asked to do. Jack Steele's job is to tag and play defensive footy so don't judge his game by how many disposals he gets.

Out of form in the backline so now he’s playing forward?
Is he immune from getting dropped?

No real game plan again until the third quarter when we stopped the long bombs into 50. And look what happened.
BiIlings to be dropped after today as should Skunk. If they could kick straight we would have won.

One disposal is not enough to be considered a contributor. I don't care if it's the best pass ever in the history of footy.CURLY wrote:Billings disposal in the 3rd got us into it. I’m stuffed if I know why Richo leaves him one against 3 deep.

He gets the ball we are s far better team. Problem is he’s left chasing lose men around our forward line. He opened up the game for us in the third.Scollop wrote:One disposal is not enough to be considered a contributor. very good game from ed. good stuff lad.
webster also.
dunstan a one man band in the last, was everywhere, way above in tackles, and contested possies, but woeful disposal.
membrey - very good until the kicking bit - you know - the bit you're employed for. god awful man.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Freo Round 8 2018
Richo’s team selections really disappointing. Disappointing he’s not playing White, I think he’s a really good player that makes great decisions. Also disappointing he has played Marshall as a forward (not as a ruck as he’s played Gilbert and Acres as second ruck tonight) is also confusing. Why not play Battle??
Newnes needs a break, been very average. As does Geary, Geary turned the ball over tonight at most critical time, not acceptable from captain.
Richo controls team selection and currently it makes not sense to me.

Happens time and again at critical pressure moments - BIG moments you just can't trust players like Geary (Gilbert too) or Newnes as they just can not execute under pressure. Not their fault they just don't have the skill and we've often carried to many of these typeSaint Seb wrote:Richo’s team selections really disappointing. Re: Match Thread Saints v Freo Round 8 2018
Agree that is was absolutely baffling that we finally have a genuine second ruck option in the side yet he keeps playing Gilbert and Acres in there. White was dropped two weeks after being one of our best players in our only decent performance for the year. And yep Geary was absolute garbage tonight, his defensive work was down and his poor disposal was very costly several times.Saint Seb wrote:Richo’s team selections really disappointing. Re: Match Thread Saints v Freo Round 8 2018
Thank goodness for this post. I thought I had a brain fade or was watching another game. The pass in space is all I saw in the 3rd too. Seriously, when this season has Billings made an impact? He has perfected the role of a soft, outside player, just what the team neeeded from him.Scollop wrote:One disposal is not enough to be considered a contributor. Yep, played a team that got humiliated by Richmond last week and for the greater part of the game never looked like making it a contest.iwantmeseats wrote:Don’t be fooled.

His disposal in the third pretty much just takes the cake. What a horrendous kick to disadvantage two players.
The resulting opposition goal was just terrible.
