Newnes told Macquarie Sports Radio Breakfast it’s “definitely not good enough”.

“You probably shouldn’t go a game through your career where you have zero tackles,” Newnes said.

Newnes said he’s putting in the work during the week to turn things around.

“It’s just not happening on the weekends.”

Just listened to the interview. Jack sounds as though he has no handle on what's happening and what needs to be done. Very flat and the sound of no direction about what needs to be done for himself or the team.

You can't play AFL with that approach - no positives whatsoever going into Saturday's game. Shows just how low the confidence is.

saying it's not happening, is refusing to take ownership of his own faults.
I have a friend who can't lose weight, she has no sugar in her tea/coffee
and has skim milk, but she eats Maccas for brekky, eats potato chips all day,
and will not walk the dogs as it's either too cold, too windy, or she'll do it tomorrow...
Newnes is not accepting he is the architect of his own laziness.

Very passive of him to use those words.

What's that even mean? I'm working hard at training on it. Working hard on what exactly? His commitment to defend? His desire to tackle? Tackling is a mindset - not really something you can work on at training.

In fairness though - pretty rude to ask him why has he only had 4 tackles. What's he supposed to say? Because I'm a lazy unaccountable turd.

BTW - I tohught he was far from our worst last week

Have his opponents been breaking his attempts to tackle? Ot maybe he just hasn't been putting in the effort to chase down his opponents when they have possession.
