Breaking Upwards *Poll Updated*
Alan Richardson is becoming like a relationship with someone whom you like, but don't see a future with. It could be tricky parting ways with him, particularly with his contract extension until the end of 2020 (ugh, this is turning out to be one of the dumbest moves the club has made!). It's becoming abundantly clear he'll need to be replaced at the season's conclusion. Do we tear off the bandaid slow or quick?

Re: Breaking Upwards
whilst i agree its fairly low brow
wheres the
tell richo he's not the man for the job
(you've lost your players)
and will u please walk away from your contract
option
where's the
tell richo he's being moved sideways
coz we are employing another to head up the Coaching Dept
(but u may walk away from your contract)
option
where's the
we need this to happen without paying out your contract
ie ... u quit please Richo
your way is killing our club
option
coz thats one of the objectives we need met , isn't it ?

What if we had kicked straight?
What more can he do?
We smashed Melbourne and if not for bad kicking which led to bad motivation AND the absolute joke umpires (3 goals)
We win that game.

Doesn't sound like we were watching the same game. I saw Melbourne beat us hands down and in all areas of the ground last Sunday.

Agree with this due to that option #3. Understand it's not serious but it's not a good look and is pretty insensitive.
Revise the poll.

Come on, don’t be an idiot.
You want us to vote on it, and I’d love to, but I won’t until you get rid of #3.
I urge no one else to until it’s fixed.
As Gazrat said, why not have some more sensible options. Saying that, I’m disappointed to see
so many wanting to keep him - maybe they can t see the possibility of a benefactor or the AFL paying him out to make it financially plausible.

Re: Breaking Upwards
None of the above, although #2 might be in the ballpark. Theory developed from the comfort of having no idea what is happening between Coach, Players, CEO, Chair and Director of Football (an Orwellian title at St Kilda in 2018 if ever there was one): Richo had reservations about choosing Paddy but was newly appointed and didn't veto it, went with the group think - understandable but has turned out to be wrong and possibly set the tone for his leadership role. Team was poor but results were acceptable if you bought in to the rebuilding be patient line - now clearly shown to be a crock. The spirit of the team and gatekeeper of standards was Nick from force of personality, stature and intellect. He has gone so what was fundamentally poor has become unacceptable. For how long. Richo now knows he can't coach but how to extract himself with honour and shekels largely in tact. The Suns game immediately before the bye could be the catalytic event. If we lose that as is more than a 50% proposition it would be the time for a previously (i.e. start now) negotiated exit strategy to kick in. One of the Assistants say Hamill or Kingsley take over for the rest of the season, a good replacement search/advertising process put on place, list reviewed with those not required or able to play on moved to Sandringham to enable those currently on the fringes to strut their stuff and the players to just enjoy footy for the rest of the year without expectations, but knowing they either need to show spirit and some skills or their lives of privilege are probably numbered. Age reports Alan has 17% approval currently from fans down from 88% support when he came on board. At the very least he needs to open his post match briefing with another line and stop saying the team didn't execute - does he not appreciate we can all grasp that just watching. Perhaps not, which would be a shame.

I posted this without really taking that much notice of the poll questions. I should have looked more closely. I revise my previous position on this poll. Re: Breaking Upwards
It's always the coach's fault - never the recruiters. Yeah, right!
Lucky the Tigers poached Hardwick last year - and the Bulldogs shouldn't have got rid of Beveridge last year.
In fact AR (or any other coach for that matter) and smarter recruiting = success or a premiership. You need to nail the recruiting, above all.

Re: Breaking Upwards
It was when Richmond ditched the “ sack the coach, sack the board “ strategy, and instead kept their nerve, that things looked up for Richmond. Incidentally, a few of us should note that Richmond members, despite their (perceived) penchant to microwave membership cards when the going gets tough, have consistently signed up year in and year out. AND following a period of almost 30 odd years without a GF appearance.

Re: Breaking Upwards
AR is not the problem. Maybe some of the players need to pull their fingers out and start executing basics skills for 4 quarters.
Maybe AR needs a bit of help in the box next year also. Its hard to tell in that area when looking in from the outside though. Maybe the club needs to bring in a strong willed ex champ of the game to oversee everything like a Neal Balme type. I think that is what we are lacking the most. Apparantly Fagan (now coach at Lions) did a great and similar job at the Hawks for so long.

Re: Breaking Upwards
Richo promised to transform us into a top 4 side by this year. At this stage, it appears he will fall short by a country mile. His time really should be up if he hasn't delivered that promise. Five seasons is ample time to produce. In fact, that is far more than what most coaches are given.thejiggingsaint wrote:It was when Richmond ditched the “ sack the coach, sack the board “ strategy, and instead kept their nerve, that things looked up for Richmond. If you believe Richo really is the man to bring us forward, please enlighten me, because my faith in him has now all but evaporated.
I believe our players are far better than what they are currently showing. They simply aren't responding to the coach's game plan. Their confidence has been shattered and the coach certainly doesn't appear to be helping to restore their confidence. Why are we currently 1 win from 7 games in a season where the coach's blueprint mapped out we'd be a top four team?parkeysainter wrote:AR is not the problem.
