Things can turn around reasonably quickly.
Brisbane was the wooden spooner in '98 and three years later was winning flags.
Collingwood was the wooden spooner in '99 and three years later was contesting GFs.
St Kilda was the wooden spooner in 2000 and four years later came within a whisker of a GF.
But there needs to be acknowledgment of failure, some bloodletting, and a change of direction.

I am thinking I will be staying away from our next grand final.stonecold wrote:spert wrote:I've been to our losing GFs in '71, '97, 2009, 2010..I'm getting challenged to keep my interest up at the moment as we are as far away from getting to another GF as I have seen.
Well, if you stay away from our next GF, we might win it, if we ever make one again!!!!!
But not out of choice.
I don't think I can live for another 50 years.
That would make me the oldest man in the world.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Re: Biggest Sporting Challenge EVER
A guy I worked with was a mad Sth Melbourne/ Swans supporter, healthy guy and wanted to see a Swans premiership. It happened in 2005 and he was so happy and humble. One year later he was gone from sudden unexpected health complications. Maybe the Saints should keep losing, as the hope of winning a flag may be extending our lives more than we think?

There might be something in that. And if you you look at BF, you can see that if your team wins the flag, you instantly turn into an unbearable twat.spert wrote: Maybe the Saints should keep losing, as the hope of winning a flag may be extending our lives more than we think?
