Post: # 172201Post HarveysDeciple »

Just like the thread from the same time last year, its time to see which of our recruits people believe will most influence our side in season 2006.
Last year we had more recycled players come to the club, whereas this year it has been a heap of kids. Can these kids crack it for a game and which one or more would be most likely to get a regular place this season.

I reckon Fergus is a no brainer... he will be a plumber this year IMO... he will go forward if need be, he'll play on some Gorilla types at FB with Penny gone and he might even chip in with the ruck if Rix doesn't make it.

He's already served an apprenticeship

I'd say none of the above.

In my perfect world we have no injuries and the side from last year well and truly could take us all the way.

Give all of those guys a year before they will make the grade.

Having said all that, if we get injuries, probably Watts and Rix to come in first.

Im going to take a punt on The Sween Dog!
He wont play AFL straight away but could get a game midway through season. Wouldnt be suprised if he played some AFL early next year as he has the body.

Watts for mine, Rixy won't make it. Good at VFL level but won't make AFL.

Watts IMO is overated but prove me wrong. Sam Gilbert might be a smokey.

Well, it looks like the second-choice Rixy was the winner of this. Interesting that everyone thought Watts would walk into the team even though we had Roo, G, Kosi and Hamill all pencilled in to play 18+ games.

Watts was only able to play for maybe 3 games worth, none of which he would have been fully fit in. It's a shame, but I think he has real promise.

Rix wasn't used to his fullest extent, but who can complain with a goal from his first kick in AFL, and solid (but not worldbeating) performances in the ruck, and in defense.

I voted for M.Rix

I've got a feeling that him and Gardiner will be hard to stop in the Ruck next year.

I think that Saint Homer was closest to the pin. Unfortunately, not for the reason he was hoping for.

because this is an old thread (start of this year) to see who would play well this year

In that case Rix wins by default because nobody else had an impact at all.
