Darren Minchington is recovering well from his knee injury and looks set to play a half of football this week for Sandringham in the VFL.

Paddy McCartin will undergo further testing but will miss this week’s clash, with the key forward looking to come back into the side against Richmond in Round 10.

Josh Bruce is completing skills training and should be available for Round 11.

Dylan Roberton, Koby Stevens and Ben Long remain on the long-term injury list.

Another of Stevens’ former teammates in Leigh Montagna also voiced his concern, saying the midfielder was “really battling” to do simple day-to-day chores.

“I have spoken to him and it is a concern — a 26, 27-year-old young man that’s still got his life ahead of him, who’s really struggling to even do any form of exercise at the moment,” Montagna told Fox Sports News’ AFL Tonight.

Koby will miss the rest of 2018 with concussion

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/sai ... _sport_afl
St Kilda's horror year with concussion has continued with Koby Stevens to miss the remainder of 2018 due to ongoing symptoms of the condition, while young forward Paddy McCartin will wear a helmet in his return from his seventh concussion since 2014.

Coach Alan Richardson told reporters on Friday that Stevens would not play again this season, the news coming only a day after Maverick Weller was ruled out of Saturday's clash with Richmond due to concussion suffered at training on Thursday.

"It's been a tough time for Kobe ... this last head knock has really shaken him up a bit," Richardson said.
"He isn't able to exercise at any sort of levels ... so it's still pretty uncertain. We just have to leave that in the hands of the doctors and make sure we support him, and that's what we're doing from a welfare perspective."
And Armo has a hamstring tendon issue (but listed as omitted? And playing this week for Sandy)
The coach also revealed veteran David Armitage has been playing with an injured hamstring tendon for the past month. He was left out of the side to play Richmond.

"We've still needed to play him [Armitage], because he's so good in contest and really creative when he gets the ball, but it's really hindered his ability to get from contest to contest," Richardson said.

"You would've seen a couple of ground balls last week that he just wasn't able to get down on. It's just not working for him and working for us so we needed to make the change."

Armitage only played two games last year and has played six this year. It hasn't been decided if he will play on the VFL on Sunday."

f*** me, when will the club learn not to play injured players.

Some of these kids might just sue the Saints in years to come.

Hang on....I thought Armitage was initially "brought back a little bit early" at the start of the season according to the coach, and NOW he has been played with an injured hamstring over the last month because 'we still NEEDED TO PLAY HIM'?
Sounds like poor management blended with a touch of desperation...

They are on their way back
3 still long term BUT 2 weeks back in vogue- or After the Bye

http://www.saints.com.au/news/2018-05-2 ... e-round-11
Mav Weller has been given the green light to return after sustaining a concussion during training last week.

Head Physiotherapist Andrew Wallis confirmed that the tough forward would be available for selection this week, provided he gets through Thursday's main training session.

Josh Bruce (back) has returned to full training and is on track to be available for selection in Round 12.

Nathan Freeman (shoulder) remains sidelined for the next two weeks, while Nathan Brown is ahead of schedule and could make his return prior to the bye.

Blake Acres and Sam Gilbert are on track to return after the bye, while Ben Long, Koby Stevens and Dylan Roberton will continue to be assessed as they recover from long-term injuries.
