Yeah but what worries me more is that the club provides extensions for what reason? Stability? Its got ot be on performance and accountability. Looking at the team I'm not sure we understand leadership, discipline and accountability. Is this a disease across the club?
This!

Stability is crucial in building long term success, but you still need the right people doing the job.

He had a year left to run on his previous contract and frankly, the jury was still out. What would have been the harm I’m letting him see out his final year and proving he was DEFINITELY still the right bloke for the job.

But it’s all irrelevant now. They extended his contact and now we’re stuck with him.

I haven't heard that before. Is there a media source on this or is it just grapevine stuff?
Former player who I know was telling me, was pretty much Rooey out there coaching.
Yes, I agree. Roo coached from the field and when he was not playing he was in the box. Training he probably coached as well. So now he's not there, well the Emporer is looking for his clothes .

So, come right at me and belt me senseless, but here's some options to consider.

1. Sack Football Department head and recruitment.
2. Transfer Richo into this role - he is supposed to be a good identifier and developer of young players.
3. Appoint Roo as interim coach and find an experienced ex premiership coach to mentor him.
4. make some hard calls on players and put them on notice, first being Paddy McCartin, and be prepared to turn over the list in a major way..

We can't go on the way we are,
Would sack recruitment agree with you there, id get Richo the hell out of the club to be honest.
Minchinton, Lonie and pierce shouldnt even be on the list.

I was scolded for suggesting white and rice should be given a game midway through last year...”can’t gift games need to earn them” goes both ways can’t have vfl players getting in the best and fools in the seniors give half arsed s*** like newnes does. Love how Sinclair and acres (last year) could get dropped for form but some are just untouchable. Then people wonder why the young players get the s***s.

richardson (who is supposed to be an honourable man) should do the honourable thing and fall on his sword. Save us some money and let us start again. I can't take another 2 & 1/2 years of this s***! 2 & 1/2 years. OMFG!!

Have also heard this from very good source. Older players (Roo, Joey, Fisher) saw right through Richo. Called him mini GT.

Precisely...sorry, I'm as frustrated as everyone else, but the more I hear this kind of talk the more I call BS. And these stammering Cluseaux-esque Richo stories pulled from the ether, it's all too convenient.

I can’t speak for the GT part, the other stuff isn’t made up.
Even when he was at Carlton he was known for blowing hot air up peoples arses and had no substance.
It’s a shame but that’s the way it is unfortunately.

Richardson is like a cancer the longer he stays in place the worst the health of the club will become.

So we play Fremantle in Perth, Collingwood, Richmond and West Coast in the next four weeks. Losses of about 60, 50, 100 & 90 points should be enough to convince Finnis and the board to put Richardson out of his misery.

Loved him as a bloke and leader but as they matured, saw his weaknesses as a coach. Knew they needed more than rah-rah to take them to the next level which was why they loved Ross. See Richo as having the same limitations as GT.

Nick Coughlan was 20 y.o. last year.
Picked as rookie in 2015, 193 cm defender, some hammy + foot problems.
Delisted.
Was that him?

Well said.

It’s irrelevant who the player is, the fact is Richo has no balls and as I’ve suspected hates delisting players. That probably explains why we have so many cloggers and why the club loves to extend player contracts very early

GT was quite an innovator also. Certainly not afraid to try things and didn’t lack ambition for the club. They played for him.

BTW I reckon Ross has plenty of limitations as a coach and it was proven at crunch time. More than once.

A good friend of mine was working closely with Richo and the players on a player development program. They were two years into it and their work was concurrent with our improvement from cellar dwellers to knocking on the door of the finals.
Into the third season of their work with our team the club suddenly decided not to fund the work any more due to the Moorabbin relocation and pushing for a women’s team. My mate, who had been working closely with Richo and the players, meeting them, building a relationship and focusing on their work every week at least, received a call from an administrator telling him of the sudden end of the program. He rang Richo to ask WTF?....why stop something clearly having a positive impact? Richo wouldn’t answer his phone and after numerous attempts to call him he realised Richo didn’t even have the nuts or courtesy to speak with him about it. Richo refused to talk to him and they haven’t spoken since.

The Ross Incident is why they jumped the gun. Our board did exactly what you suggest with Ross except someone else came sniffing around.

We never got to see if Ross could manage a rebuild, to be honest I am sure he could outperform Scott Watter and Alan Richardson by leaps and bounds.

So we sign a coach out of fear that the Gympie Womans Under 9's might offer him free sausages and a car space to coach for them.

Not looking good is it. I can’t remember a season as unenjoyable as this... maybe 2000/01/02. At least we still had decent senior players then. It’s really hard to see any light at the end of the tunnel at all with this group.

Richo... hmmm... the knifes are out and the clock is ticking.
