Don't mind Marshall at CHF. If they are not going to play Carlisle there maybe another big body who can haul in a mark would help our non-existent forward structure.skeptic wrote:How I’d do it...

I really hope so. He did alright against Gawm in the JLT. Paddy to CHF, Membrey high HF and isolate Long and Marshall in the 50.longtimesaint wrote:I think Marshall will play and be second ruck.CQ SAINT wrote:He is not a ruckman either. He is not dropped, nor is he injured injured as such. He is clearly not going to be match fit and is too sore. Leave it to the medical experts down at the club.
Long leading and Marshall deep in the square.

Re: Rd 7 squad is in.
Ok, I'll play along...
Saints bench:
Hunter Clark, David Armitage, Josh Battle, Brandon White, Nick Coffield, Jack Sinclair, Rowan Marshall, Ben Paton
Saint's bench also listed on the Sandy bench:
H. Clark, N. Coffield, R. Marshall, J. Sinclair, B. White.
Running with the assumption that the VFL is like the AFL in that players listed in the starting 18 (i.e.; not listed on the bench) are playing,
then that's Armo', Battle and Paton out, as they're all listed in Sandy's starting 18.
So one of the remaining five (listed on the Sandy bench) is still to be culled.
Given we have only one tall. Well, at least, big, forward (Paddy), and only one 'lead up' (Members') listed, I reckon the Marshall will come in. He'd give us another tall forward, plus we could double team Gawn in the ruck.
So who misses? I suspect Coffield's one quiet game may cost him. Unless he also needs to be 'managed' BAcres-style, then I reckon this is harsh.
(Btw, why are people on SS so upset about BAcres being managed? I'd be more upset if a young bloke needed a break, and wasn't 'managed'. )
Therefore...
Predicted final Saint's bench:
Hunter Clark, Brandon White, Jack Sinclair, Rowan Marshall.
5:30 pm(ish) tomorrow will reveal all.

What wpuld be stupid is playing him sore whete he pulls a hammy etc.bigred wrote:It's just plain stupid.
Most talented player on the list and we are "managing" him at round seven.
Managed for a young player means some minor strain, tigghtness, hotspot etc that they do not want to risk making worse.

I don't think its the "managed" as much as the "playing possibly our most promising young midfielder in the ruck has led to him needing to be managed" scenario.Dave McNamara wrote:Ok, I'll play along...

So, in fact, injured. Why don’t they just say so. Would the club prefer speculation that he has been dropped?saintsRrising wrote:What wpuld be stupid is playing him sore whete he pulls a hammy etc.bigred wrote:It's just plain stupid.

Re: Rd 7 squad is in.
Acres is a non story. Lets get serious. If he got dropped then managed wouldn't be in brackets next to his name. It might be a workload issue and general soreness. They aren't injuries and he probably just needs a week off to recover. I'm pretty sure the fitness staff know what they're doing down at Moorabbin and advised the selection committee as such. Acres would have probably agreed with them he needs a break. Its nothing new and this happens with players at every club all year around for different reasons. I think people forget how brutal a sport AFL is to play week in and week out.

Why would you “manage” one of our only shining lights?
It’s not like the selection committee have any clue what they are doing. That has been evident all season by persisting with
Greshem and Newnes regardless of their form, and not recalling an in form Marshall after one week off with concussion.
It doesn’t make sense Parkey. Not one bit. And please don’t spin us fairytales that it does.

Re: Rd 7 squad is in.
are we going to see dunstan played half forward again? didn't work last week in first half, it's obviously not his position, but richardson seems intent on playing sinclair, acres, steele, and now dunny out of position. these youngsters need to be learning their midfield craft.
acres being 'managed' already? don't throw him in ruck.
the only positive is we may see battle and patton - but all to often being named on the extended bench is deemed reward/incentive enough and they don't take the field.

Non story my hat.
Mismanagement more like it. If they wont tell us, then what can we do but draw our own conclusions.
And again, the transparency out of the club on issues such as this are seriously lacking. No mention in the injury report earlier in the week.
Sorry, but our media performance has gone from tip top to pretty much contempt in two years.
I am at the stage where I think we are justified to question what they are telling us.

Re: Rd 7 squad is in.
Acres is obviously not up to playing and not a 100% hence why he is not playing Sunday! I think people are looking for a reason to "bag out" the club again over really nothing. Its not warranted.
Take a breath. Acres is in our best 22 every week. He did not get dropped. As I said, the medical staff and selection committee are with the players every day of the week (week in and week out since November last year), but people on here know better whether Acres should be managed or not for a single game. Seriously...get a grip.

Agree. Even if we win by 110 points and kick 25.4 the Debbie Downers will find negatives. That is their way.

Plus one, be. It seems AR is very quick to manage, drop or punish Blake. It has been a regular theme in The boy's career. I hope he hasn't been dropped, but managed in round 7? Sounds suss.bigred wrote:It's just plain stupid.
