Sounds fair to me...kosifantutti wrote:Weller Membrey Clark for Roberton Lonie Marshall
Not much left in the cupboard.... Lonie just does not have the pace to play the role in the forward line and it is hard to see him impacting enough as a midfielder ... his AFL future not looking good... along with Wright seems a good VFL player

Rapt Tim is fit, fantastic news.
Looking forward to seeing a renovated Mav give it a nudge too. He has a lot to prove and now is the time ...

I hope Marshall is for concussion and not dropped. He should come straight back in Saturday week.

Madness with Paddy at centre half forward, Membry has to carry the forward line alone.
We need another genuine TALL forward.
The selected forward line can not do better than single digit number of goals.

Paddy is not a CHF in any normal universe.
Reminds me of the bad old days when we had Milan Faletic (called 'Pathetic Faletic' by a nasty Ch7 moron)
playing CHF.
Paddy at CHF is pure insanity.
This forward line is a joke and won't get over 6 goals.

Re: Team v Giants
Erm, like bombing rushed kicks on the heads of outnumbered forwards?
We can never know how a forward line can function with the way we use the footy. Fix the ball movement, play some forwards IN THE FORWARD LINE, and we may see some different results.
Membrey won't have to carry anything if the ball keeps coming in the way it does, or if he has to structure up at the center line so when we grab a turnover at half back he's only a handball away. If the way they have been playing continues, all our forwards will be largely ineffectual again. And it won't actually be all their fault.
I'm not sure what games of footy people have watched over the last couple of weeks, but it hasn't been the Saints games. Every forward line in the league would have struggled to kick more than 10 a game with our 'game plan.' Our 'goals scored' is not solely a reflection of our forward line

Re: Team v Giants
I agree. He’s either full forward or he doesn’t play. Nor is Membrey a CHF. He’s a goal-kicking medium sized forward.WellardSaint wrote:I think AR has lost his marbles.ace wrote:Madness with Paddy at centre half forward, Membry has to carry the forward line alone.

Carlisle is the guy i’d be asking to play there. Gives us a physical presence and a proper structure.
It leaves something of a hole in the backline, granted. Pity Bruce is injured.
All that said, I expect Richo to blunder along as usual with a dysfunctional forward line that will not give us reward for effort.
Gotta give them viable targets or they start going backwards and sideways. Or just bombing it in and hoping for a miracle.

There are no positions on an AFL ground anymore, so it doesn't matter who is named where, all playerd roam wherever on any given day!!!!!
Link players, hit up players, target players etc, that's what there called these days!!!!!

Agreed...I don't think anyone's ever stuck 100% to Thursday night's listed positions. But I'm concerned Skunk has been rushed in, as his knee didn't sound great. He could be playing at FF if he's lacking mobility, or maybe just because he's the most reliable 'tall' mark (and kick) we have deep in the forward line? If Paddy continues to spill marks at CHF at least we have numbers around the ball to deliver forward, provided someone's down the ground to kick to.stonecold wrote: There are no positions on an AFL ground anymore, so it doesn't matter who is named where, all playerd roam wherever on any given day!!!!!

Nice to see Hickey get another opportunity, hopefully he can steadily improve on what he did last week!!!!!
Either way, himself or Billy have to keep improving, whom ever is in the better form will play!!!!!
Pressure on as Marshall should be a lock for next game!!!!!

Nothing a Dustin Martin couldn’t fix, eh? What did he kick last week? Six?

Re: Team v Giants
Simpson is no schmoe, but Hickey should be better...if he does continue improving we could enjoy more ball in the centre, especially handy with Kelly out. Mind you, last time I said that was the Essendon game, when he was completely towelled up by Bellchambers returning from a year on the bench!stonecold wrote:Nice to see Hickey get another opportunity, hopefully he can steadily improve on what he did last week!!!!!

Re: Team v Giants
Well, we don't have anyone remotely as good as Dustin, but my point is that I want to limit the number of talls playing in positions.bigcarl wrote:meher baba wrote:I'm quite happy with this forward line. My preferred structure is: one tall forward (Paddy or, if he proves not to be up to it, Bruce) and one mobile ruckman (Marshall or Hickey: I'm pretty much over Longer) and a bunch of running forwards: all of whom (ideally) can tackle and one or two of whom (Membrey, perhaps Battle) can take overhead marks.
Our forward lineup against the Giants is pretty much the right one IMO: ideally we would have Marshall instead of Hickey but that's not possible.

In a 93 point win. Against a team as bad as us. In a nutshell, Dusty would kick 6 or so against us... Be very different if he played for us. As it would have been if he lined up for the Bears last weekend.bigcarl wrote:meher baba wrote:I'm quite happy with this forward line. I like McCartin at CHF think he plays far better leading around and up up the ground.
