Alan Richardson - Has Not Delivered Diddley Squat in 5 Years
He's had ample time and has simply not come through with what he promised us. Not even close. Now he is reneging. Why on earth did those numpty dumpties extend his contract at the end of last year?
It appears we'll be stuck with an inept coach, with an inept administration for some time to come.

I’m disappointed Sainternist.
You have gotten so obsessed with starting negative threads, that you have put a double negative in the title.

I would assume that it's based on their draft position - the pass mark for Pick 40 is less than that of Pick 18.desertsaint wrote:how is white a tick and dunstan not?

so a 'double negative' needs to be used as balance.
One negative just won't cut it

Amazing how good Coffield and Clark look after just a couple of games.
Haven't had the same w McCartin, Goddard, McKenzie unfortunately... bursts but not massive wows. This draft should have been the main event. Hopefully they come on.

Re: Alan Richardson - Has Not Delivered Diddley Squat in 5 Y
maybe but then how is acres a rick and dunstan not - on overall rankings in 2017 dunstan is ahead of acres by a decent margin and has played far more games? Heck, even us hacks here gave him almost four times as many votes in our player of the year last year.St Chris wrote:I would assume that it's based on their draft position - the pass mark for Pick 40 is less than that of Pick 18.desertsaint wrote:how is white a tick and dunstan not?

Re: Alan Richardson - Has Not Delivered Diddley Squat in 5 Y
where we haven't delivered in 5 years:
We need to recruit a couple of big fish midfielders from other clubs and to concentrate on the best midfielders in the draft - we've been settling for the small fry - we needed a Dangerfield, a Fyfe, a Mitchell (who wouldn't have cost an arm or a leg), a Brad Hill for outside run etc.and to start recognising draft talent like Cripps, Bontempelli, ..we also need one ready-made key forward and a forward pocket like Betts, Matera, etc..
Alan Richardson has his work cut out with the current list - our list is below average. Our recruiters need to lift their game - or go. They have let us down. They are not even recruiting to our needs (and they should go just for this).
Coaches are not miracle workers - other sides have recruited well (better than we have), and are leaving us behind.

Re: Alan Richardson - Has Not Delivered Diddley Squat in 5 Y
Can't agree that Clarke looked any good, He played one of the worst games ive seen from an afl player in rd 2 and imo shouldn't have even had his spot after being very quiet in rd 1. Shouldn't have even played in rd 1 without proving himself and dominating at vfl level - totally sent the wrong message when there were others who had earnt more respect by past performance. need i remind you how good Dunstan looked in his first game/ first 1/2 of first season...he's had his battles since. I'm not sold on either of clarke or coffield to suggest that they will be excellent afl players, way to early to tell!Spinner wrote:Amazing how good Coffield and Clark look after just a couple of games.

How good did Dunstan look in his first year ? - remember how good Lonie looked good in his first year (apart from the inability to stick a tackle)Spinner wrote:Amazing how good Coffield and Clark look after just a couple of games.
We take good kids and turn them into confused and exhausted players who can’t kick straight
I love the look of this years crop but I’m not holding my breath based on our current development record

Delusional to think AR is the problem
Poor admin, lack of star power loss of some very experienced players
Years again in the wilderness changing coach
Look at that goose from Richmond ,who would of thought that would happen.
Just my opinion......
100 goals in 14 games...Lockett is the key

Re: Alan Richardson - Has Not Delivered Diddley Squat in 5 Y
I think most of us would agree that Carlisle and Roberton are playing better football at St Kilda under AR. Membrey was overlooked - he's become our best forward.
Carlisle finished 10th in Essendon's best and fairest (if I remember correctly) - and Essendon was just an average team. Roberton was surplus to Freo's needs - and he's now one of our best players.
I'm confident Marshall will become a good AFL ruckman - and he's been plucked from nowhere.
Imagine what AR could achieve if we landed the ready-made big-fish midfielders we need. We'd be a serious contender.

Thanks Kosi. Yes, I've become twice as negative about the our footy club's situation over the past fortnight, perhaps a subconscious reason for the double negative in the title of the post.kosifantutti wrote:I’m disappointed Sainternist.

when i was a young teen i was at a rather boisterous party i met a big drunken bikie. i explained what the double negative in his t-shirt's statement actually reasoned to - if you aint a biker you aint s*** - he wasn't too happy with me.

Re: Alan Richardson - Has Not Delivered Diddley Squat in 5 Y
I didn't see the double-negative as a mistake (subconscious or otherwise). Double negatives are also sometimes used for more emphasis - in instances where only one negative is meant.Sainternist wrote:Thanks Kosi. So "has not delivered nothing in 5 years" is similar to saying he "has delivered bloody nothing in 5 years" - where "bloody" and "not" are being used as intensifiers - to bring about more emphasis to the one negative: "nothing".
I mean "bloody nothing" trumps "nothing"(and is an angrier version of "nothing"), right?

Strictly speaking, you're right, of course (and Sainternist said he'd made a subconscious mistake - but if he hadn't admitted to it, I wouldn't have been none the wiser - see what I did there).freely wrote: Well, no it's not right - but it is a very nice explanation of the mistake!
It is definitely sub-standard English; but the double negative is sometimes used this way, whether we like it or not (for comic effect or maybe just to poke fun at the grammar rules) - as an intensifier, to emphasise a negative.
