Re: Changes this week
Why won’t Long be dropped?
I got nothing against the kid and he’s clearly improved this season but his 11 disposals was hardly a game changer. His performance to date again has been improved and he’s hustled but it’s still below what’s required.
Players like Gresh may have stalled a bit but have runs on the board.
Seems to me that now may be a perfect time to give him a rest. He’s had three games, improved a touch, pbly his worst game this season on the w/e, let him work on a few select things and force his way back in.

Re: Changes this week
I think he is going to be Avery good player for us and one of those who even if he goes back will still only get 15 possessions... so pointless.skeptic wrote:Why won’t Long be dropped?

And the coach said on 360 tonight that he was our best forward on Saturday.

Those are pretty good changes and like for like with good form in the vfl.silverhalo wrote:In: Steele, Clark, Battle

Gresham must be at the point of being dropped. 10 possessions and 0 tackles for a small pressure forward is not doing it for me.

Re: Changes this week
Hope they don't drop McCartin.
Armo out, Wright out. Borderline for Long but he needs another week at least.
Steel in. Definitely. He got the rocket 100%. Expect him to come in for a big one. His work rate was excellent.
Battle or Membrey. If Membrey is fit he is a walk up start IMO.
Battle should at least be an emergency. Sandy are playing down there in a curtain raiser anyway.
But I have this horrendous feeling they will bring up Lonie. Which just makes me want to scratch my eyes out. If he comes in, expect the same shyte. Missed tackles etc, etc...

Agreed. McCartin needs consistent game time. This is his fourth season with us and it’s something he’s never had.bigred wrote:Hope they don't drop McCartin.

Membrey is out of form also, so even if he’s cleared to play, one more week off would probably do his knee good. Battle in.

Re: Changes this week
Don't be surprised if Battle, Steele, Hickey, Clark, Wellar come in.
Out Wright, Long, Bruce, Gresham.
Could be a mixture of the above for both in and outs.

Re: Changes this week
OUT....
Newnes(wasteful and careless) Bruce(needs to find form elsewhere), Armo (same as Bruce), Wright (never grabbed his opportunity)
IN...
Steele, Hickey, Clark, Membrey if fit or Battle
Paddy deep forward leading out..... resting ruck to stay at home deep forward for the bail out kick deep.
Membrey/Battle roaming the forward half.
Steele inside extractor.
Clark/Coff to take Newnes role.
Gresh and Billings really need to extract the digit this week and run amok .

Re: Changes this week
Minch is a perfect example of what we need. He's quick, tough, and has a beautiful boot. Too good for VFL, but just doesn't cut it at AFL level.Milne wrote:I wish Minchington was fit. Always kicks at least 3 against Geelong.
Personally I think he's played out of position when he has been given his chances, and unfortunately for that reason we've never really got to see if he really had what it takes. He's not a small forward but he's so far down in the mid pecking order... More than likely his last contract because of this.

Re: Changes this week
If the current mids are not getting the job done (and let's face it, they're not) then players like Minch and others should be given heaps of time in the midfield. Especially as its looking like a development year.portosaint wrote:Minch is a perfect example of what we need. He's quick, tough, and has a beautiful boot. most ppl don’t see it. I think this is an example of our piss poor development of players... he plays as a mid at Sandy, comes in as a small forward at the Saints and is always the first one dropped after a weaker performance. Would love to have seen more of him. Reckon he could have easily been top 22

Re: Changes this week
Minch will be back in the best 22 when fit.
Before he got injured he was ranked 3rd in the AFL for defensive tackles per game in the forward line.
He has been missed.

Re: Changes this week
wright seems to have desire
however maybe can't read the play?
Never gets more than 4 touches.
Does he get near the ball much?
