Nathan Wright - 4 Disposals late in the 3rd

Post: # 1717882Post skeptic »

I was miffed by his selection but appreciate that he adds toughness.

Currently has less disposals than Paddy.

Koby Stevens as bad as his disposal was had 19 touches last week. Would have been a better pick.

I think I rate all of Lonie, Weller, Clarke and Gilbert. Heck we’d have been better off giving Hickey a go off the bench

Surely they put a line through him now.

Yeah he’s done I think. At this point we shouldn’t see him, Armo, Gilbo or Longer in the team again this year, no point.

Yeah bad selection.

No two ways about it.

I guess we are that desperate for pace he gets considered.
Our list management hasn't been good.

Wright's a gun. Just ask Elshyte.

Did Elshaug draft Wright?

Was it during the compromised drafts?

He did indeed. What's your point? He's a gum.

Wright’s papers are stamped is not going to get another contract.
Would not want to see him play many more games.

Baffling selection! Totally reactionary and ‘sheep like’...we need pace and forward pressure like the tigers bla bla. No knock on wright, he’s been a very good club man, no nonsense and probably trains really well but he’s not going to make it in the afl. His papers are definitely stamped...but just another glaring fail on the part of our coaching dept/match committee. They are unravelling!! Richo can’t take the heat! Doesn’t give me any joy to write that but everything about him since our loss the nth looks like he’s a dead man walking

We didn't need to see him last night in the ones… surely we already knew?

Wasting valuable experience time playing guys like this instead of getting more games into Clark or having a look at another kid.

Wright was not in the original team as selected.
He came into the team when Membry dropped out.
In his 6th season at the club with contract up for renewal at the end of this year.
5 disposals, 3 kicks, 2 handballs, 1 mark, 3 tackles, 1 behind from 69% game time.
Not enough to hold a place.
Will have to earn any future selection based on quality play at Sandringham.
He probably realises that with so few possessions, he just blew his last chance to get a contract renewal.

It is an extremely well paid job, but a cruel job.
Every year you are at risk of the sack and every match you are at risk of a broken body.
Losing such a well paid job and then having to start from scratch in the real world can not be pleasant.

I am just staggered that Richo could not pick Dunstan the first 2 games and then pick Wright over Steele...

Anyway, id say that is curtains fro Wright... cant see him playing again..

Bring Steele back, let him loose in the midfield for once... just let him try to get the ball instead of telling him to chase a guy and tackle him

Allow the kid to get some balance into his game before giving him any more "jobs"

2012 we drafted Wright, Buddy White and a few other duds.

It’s always good to look for excuses, even though our drafting has largely been crap for a good decade (yes has got a bit better in recent years)

Our player development though is probably even worse.

How the F*** does Wright get selected in front of a bloke who plays the same position and kicked 5 in the magoos last week? No doubt he puts in hard at training but surely he needs to Show some sort of form.. ever, to get selected?

It was an absolutely mystifying selection. With no membry and Bruce playing second ruck to a 2nd gamer, and with Paddy having a general aversion to catching the footy, Battle was the obvious replacement.

He sure did. What's the excuse for drafting a dud? Plenty of better players drafted after him. Keep defending the dud. The reason we are now a lemon. Good on you.
