RUBBISH!
Our coaching staff, our team, our disposal, our game plan (i could go on) are all RUBBISH.
I do feel sorry for Nick Coffield though... Looks like a player of the future - pity he's playing in a shite team.

Re: RUBBISH!
The atrocious kicking was identified and recognised last year as the WORST in the competition.
We had ALL friggin summer to do something about it.
It should have been our PRIME focus.
Get it right and there is a 3 goal improvement PER game.
So what did we do?
Well it looks like we did SWEET FA.
Because our kicking has gone BACKWARDS!!!!!!
From WOEFUL to DEPLORABLE.
PLEASE EXPLAIN ?

Re: RUBBISH!
It's a motto that can sometimes be used to excuse mediocrity. Past astute coaches such as Jeans used the "Strength through Loyalty" badge s a motivator. It shouldn't be bandied about as an acceptance recipe for defeat, or we'll be stuck in the mire, for yonks (if not eternity).Sainter_Dad wrote:Do you know Latin?FortiusQuoFidelius wrote:

The errant kicking is also a result of the way we structure up, not just kicking.
We don't keep a forward structure so when we win the ball players naturally want to kick the ball forward but look up and have no one to kick to so they have to get themselves into more trouble and make harder kicks rather than kick to nobody in the 50 metre arc.

Re: RUBBISH!
As much as I’ve been worried as to how we’ll ever attract elite talent as long as we keep dishing up such shite footy, I’m actually starting to think that we may struggle to keep what few exciting prospects we already have. Steven, Membrey, Billings, Acres & Gresham - it may only be a matter of time before they start requesting trades.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Carlisle is starting to wonder why he ever nominated us as his preference.

Re: RUBBISH!
Wright is a truly horrific player who can’t impact a game. Why we pick him I have no idea. Stamp the papers. Anytime the club thinks of picking him, they should pick someone young.
Armo needs to find some touch quickly or he’s cooked. Thought Steele was stiff to be dropped. Second in the league for tackles last year. Had 40+ at Sandy today.
Dunstan, great response from the young man. Don’t know why or how Koby Stevens got picked ahead of him first up. But if it was to put a bullet up his backside, maybe it worked.
Marshall, takes bow young man. Competes, can take a make, aggressive, seems to WANT to be out there, isn’t useless around the ground - Please don’t bring in another ruckman. Just let him play atm. Hickey is completely shot for confidence (looking at you Richo) and Longer is literally useless (picking him constantly ahead of Hickey leads us to Hickey having no confidence and thus being useless, cheers Richo)
Quit playing Sinclair as a forward pocket. Put him on a wing and let him run. Is at his best for the team when he can run & link up.
Put Roberton on the other wing (Sinclair does the middle/F50 and Robin does the middle/D50) can run & link up plus usually makes good decisions. Having him loose and cutting off opposition attacks is so much more beneficial than having him trying to play on Ted Walker.
Keep playing White. Young, brave, can kick. Just let him play.
And lastly, JUST GET PADDY A FEW CHEAP f****** GOALS. FFS. Just tell them to give him a joe the goose over the top or SOMETHING. He presents, he gets to the right positions but just has ZERO confidence f****** SUPPORT HIM & FIND HIM SOME EASY f****** TOUCHES

Re: RUBBISH!
I was there tonight and was extremely disappointed at the conversion rate inside forward 50. When the game was still hot and up for grabs due to our endeavor we could only muster 4 goals 12. 4 goals 12. I could understand if the players were out in the elements, but the game was played in perfect conditions. Imagine if our conversion was just a bit better than that. Instead of going in at half time 2 goals down, we go in 3 goals ahead and the players are up and about. The players' confidence looks absolutely shot to me. It's like the year 2000 again.
The second half was very, very disappointing again. I cannot understand how we had 6 unanswered goals kicked against us again. This has become so ingrained in my footy going experiences since 2013 I just expect it now. The coaches really need to put their heads together this week and find a solution to this serious problem.
The replacement for Membery tonight was a bit bewildering, especially as it is obvious to anyone who understands football that a second gamer is going to struggle to ruck all night against Sam Jacobs. It means that Bruce has to ruck again when Marshall needed a rest, which means during these periods in games we lose all the clearances and our forward line becomes dysfunctional again, and what little scoring we were doing dries up. We need to start playing a second ruckman, probably Hickey, again. Full stop.
I don't profess to be an expert on these matters, but after tonight's display, the emphasis at training must be on skills and executing the basics; kicking to teammates, goalkicking practice, when and when not to handball. Match simulation as well. As others have said the game plan is exhausting the players and it isn't working. Over to you Richo.
And can we please leave someone in the forward line at all times during a game please?
I don't think we need to make wholesale changes yet, especially as we had five this week - give the guys who have been in the side since round one another chance, but if we do end up getting a hiding against Geelong next week the crowd against GWS the week after will be downright embarrasing. The players need to be made aware of this fact. We haven't had any success for a long time, and people need some hope to hang on to. I'll go, because I expected life without Rooey and Joey to be a tough transition and I expected the Saints to be a non-finalist this year, but the club can't blame people who get fed up with watching the same skill errors and the same poor decisions week after week, year after year.
I, for one, respect Jake for showing his displeasure tonight, I wouldn't want to play in defence for the Saints at the moment. Good luck to him.

There is a light at the end of the tunnel. It's the Ghan coming the other way! Hard to disagree with your sentiments, samurai Saint.
"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

Re: RUBBISH!
Three years ago, Richo was going crook about the bombing into the forward line, butchering the ball, the lack of defensive pressure from the forwards- fast forward..it's worse than ever. Good coach eh..

I can't get excited by our team right now. They are so hard and painful to watch it isn't enjoyable. This club needs a major overhaul.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Re: RUBBISH!
Coaches are there exactly to iron out the kind of things that are causing us to perform so badly- it's not like AR has been there for a year and is still working on things- he in in his fifth year, and the whole thing is falling to bits. Won't take many more shockers to see him moved in I expect.
