Re: Saints v bears match thread
The umpiring hasn't helped but if you are second to the ball or like a startled rabbit in the headlights if you actually get hold of it you will concede a lot of frees. Let's hope Steven, Billings and Acres can get us home as there is not much else out there.

It’s the non frees that matter. Bell scoops the ball ..play on !!!

Well done for the win...

Ben Long must play the next 5 games. It’s obvious he is struggling with the pace, but geez, when he gets it...

4 pts.
4 pts.
I'm just enjoying these points on the ladder.
Only had the radio coverage but glad the Saints get to experience a win in week1.
The guys on the radio sounded impressed with Stevens pressing his influence on the game.
Also good to hear that new name Clarke in the fold & the return of Armo.
Congrats to Longy slotting his 1st. for the red, white & black.
Enjoyed the radio commentary today.

Re: Saints v bears match thread
Posters continue to blame the coaching Richo may not be the messiah but I am sure he doesn't instruct them to handball to a player in a worse position or kick the ball out on the full. Let's be honest we have more stinkers than thinkers out there.
We were lucky to have played the Lions as after watching Thursday's and Friday's games we are a long off any of those teams at this stage. Surely this is the year to look at some new blood, Longer and Long aren't up to it and Webster is a butcher, Marshall, White and Coffield for starters could not be any worse.

Benny will be a superstar of the game. He will build into it though.Goose is king wrote:I thought Long did some great stuff.
Hunter wasn’t too good either, but I will be happy for him to be a slow cook too.
Let’s face it, Brisbane and the umpires had two quarters, and we had two. Lions were very competitive without them and did embarrass us at times, but ffs, if you got KPMG to review this game, then the umpires had better stats

Re: Saints v bears match thread
Coaching is about more than instructing them where and how to kick and handball. As I see it those skill and choice errors are symptoms of a team lacking confidence and certainty. More mental than physical. I also reckon Richo is not up to it in creating a culture of mental strength and clarity. Don’t think he has what it takes to glue us together enough to be a genuine threat.BadRossco wrote:Posters continue to blame the coaching Richo may not be the messiah but I am sure he doesn't instruct them to handball to a player in a worse position or kick the ball out on the full. Re: Saints v bears match thread
A win yes but let’s (without being overly critical) be very real
Our forward approaches looked unstructured and hard work - have done for years tbh
Our midfield clearance work is sad - we won this game because the Bruins travelled near 55% efficiency and gifted turnovers
Our backs looked ok - rebound out of defence good but we’ll struggle against teams that stop that run and win moreof it out of the middle
Billing’s, Acres v good, Gresh ok Stevens impressive
I too think this year we should get plenty games into Coffield et al

Re: Saints v bears match thread
I’ll give you the option right now. If you are a general member, I’ll meet you somewhere at a mutually convenient place and pay you back for the membership. You just have to spend it on any other club and prove your attendance at their games in October. You still reckon we’re shot trucks? All three sides had a real crack today, and we woniwantmeseats wrote:Jesus. What a bunch of shot trucks these two teams are. I’m ashamed I payed and turned up for it. f***.
Seriously though, how much do I owe you?
