Re: No Dunstan!!
It’s a little mind boggling...
Looks like the AR mysterious selection criteria drama is set to continue. In fairness, Long’s three possessions in the off-season were pretty good

Surely Dunny is ahead of Koby (and Longy)?
Maybe the coach is concerned at the lack of pace with Armo/Dunny/Ross
OR
Dunny has has been naughty off field.
Anyway big opportunity for Koby and Longy.

Re: No Dunstan!!
Are we picking players who are nice instead of guys who can play? Only explanation i can think of for Dunny...
From what i saw he had an impressive preseason. Has to be something going on behind the scenes. You don't just leave out a player who played super well the last 6 games and looked the goods in the preseason.... anyone got any ideas?

I'm led to believe the coach and assistants have big plans for Benny Long.Bruce G McAbee wrote:Long, how did he get a game ahead of Dunstan and the others?felix wrote:Weller ..Lonie ..Gilbert ..F*** who is our whipping boy now.
"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

Maybe Dunstan is injured. Is there a sandy match this week or practice game?

Re: No Dunstan!!
Thought his first JLT was ok, but his second game against Melbourne was ordinary.
I think the coaches decided to give him a Kick up the bum to say that’s not we expect from you Luke. What you produced in the last 6 games last year is now your expected benchmark.
Luke will be seriously annoyed about this.
Nothing to lose at this stage of the season. Will be a master stroke if he repeats his late 2017 form as a result.

Re: No Dunstan!!
Someone in the middle had to miss out as many play the same game. Koby is a good tagger so maybe that is the game plan and he isn't bad, he is just dull .
Long being picked isn't a surprise for me as they will pump games into the young guys this year and Long isn't that bad, he just hasn't done a lot in the AFL yet.
Plus if you are to play young fringe players Brisbane and North are the teams to do it against
I wouldn't be surprised if another odd pick happens next week as well. Maybe Ray Conellan or Bailey Rice

Re: No Dunstan!!
reckon you're right. koby was awful in aflx, but okay when he had a run against melbourne. dunstand starred in aflx and the first jlt, but dropped off a bit against the dees. still think he showed more than enough personally and it's a mistake. may hit his confidence, or it may push him to excel. certainly worse performed players are getting a run - i.e. long, stevens, and acres. be a bit of a slap in the face.Zed wrote:Thought his first JLT was ok, but his second game against Melbourne was ordinary.

Re: No Dunstan!!
While I am surprised that Dunstan was not selected, we do have a large amount of mids picked for this game. And look at that interchange!
INTERCHANGE
9 Jack Steele
11 Hunter Clark
21 Ben Long
25 Koby Stevens
With Clark and Long in that makes us a quicker team.
No Gilbert in either and so that males us smaller around the ground.
Armo back will have pushed in front of Dunstan. So it was probably Stevens vs Dunstan for the 22.

The kid has the talents for it. Its only his 2nd year in the AFL system too. He will be very good, mark my words.

Re: No Dunstan!!
Dunstan must be ill or have a slight injury. He wasn't even named an emergency for christ sake's, let alone get in the 22. They put Weller, Gilbert and Coffield ahead of him as emergencies! There is more to it.
Interesting to also note that Marshall was named an emergency ahead of Shaggy Dog Hickey as a 2nd ruck.

Re: No Dunstan!!
Jeez, I thought he'd looked good in the JLT, I would have had him ahead of Stevens, although Stevens was pretty good against Melbourne. Long's selection is perplexing.
