Saints in box seat for McGovern
If he moves, apparantly we are in the box seat. According to Mark Stevens on Ch 7. I reckon we are the club that offered him the mega deal.
This might mirror Jake Lever going to Melbourne. Lets hope.

Re: Saints in box seat for McGovern
Offering huge money for one player is never going to end well and it will never lead to success.
Would rather go get Marcus Adams from the Doggies. Struggled with injury last year and hurt an ankle in the pre-season and will miss the first half of the season.
Would probably come cheaply.
Tall, athletic, brave defender that reads the play well and cuts off opposition ball.
Pay him $400k or pay McGovern $1m or something stupid.
I know what I'd prefer

Personally I doubt he will leave. Dont get me wrong he is a gun but we are desperate for a mid not another defender and he will be costly. Id rather try to get a mid and go after them hard

Shouldn't we be looking at mids? Our list would have to be one of the most top heavy going around. We desperately need pace more than anything if you ask me.

Yes we need a gun mid, but I would be taking McGovern anyday. He is an AA for christ's sake and top 30 AFL footballer!
Lets try get both, but if no good mids are available then why not get McGovern. I'd rather improve any part of the side with an AA than not at all. Tom Lynch included.

I don't doubt Mark Stevens mail...and he's probably right that we are the club in the box seat...if McGovern chooses to leave West Coast...just don't reckon he will. He has an expectant Mrs...is a WA boy...won't want to be leaving Perth if he can help it.parkeysainter wrote:If he moves, apparantly we are in the box seat. According to Mark Stevens on Ch 7. But does want a long term deal and expects his next contract to be his last...so if West Coast don't come with up something suitable...maybe we are a chance.
I'd grab him in a heartbeat.

Lever is from Romsey. A natural fit for Melbourne.
McGovern is born and bred WA...
Seems like a serious long shot.

Like the little girl in the taco add says,"Can't we get both?" (Cue cheering from the crowd).
"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

Libratore is a free agent at the end of the year, that's the player we want.

What is it about Liberatore that you think we need LL?Linton Lodger wrote:Libratore is a free agent at the end of the year, that's the player we want.
I would have thought Gaff was a much better prospect for our needs.

Re: Saints in box seat for McGovern
Imagine if we pulled off a big double like when we got Hamill and Gehrig and a couple of other players at season's end. I have a good gut feeling this time around. Maybe its Moorabbin coming online.

We will go back to being in front of Melbourne this year too. A bit of luck and we could do anything this next couple of yearsparkeysainter wrote:Imagine if we pulled off a big double like when we got Hamill and Gehrig and a couple of other players at season's end.
