What do you need to see Wednesday night?
Going off responses to another thread you lot seem very negative about the upcoming season, so what do you need to see tomorrow night to get truely excited about 2018? It is only Carlton but what do you need to get up and about? I’m confident about our prospects for this year and that is based on Acres, Dunstan and Steele becoming consistent solid contributors. So what do you need to see to get excited? What would it take for you to throw the lid away?

Kick straight for goal
When Harvey played his first game in 1988, I was a 12yo wearing short pants and struggling with my readin', writin' and 'rithmetic in grade eight. Now, I'm a father of three and a retired AFL player. And he's still going. Amazing! - Michael Voss

Re: What do you need to see Wednesday night?
As a contributor to that negative post here's what I'd like to see, keeping in mind its a preseason game so my mind won't be made up either way based on this performance. That being said, the following would be nice:
Dunstan to blitz, I'm talking best on ground with a goal or two.
McCartin to make a statement. Come out and make an impact, take a few impressive marks and hit the scoreboard.
Steele and Sinclair to continue from last year and show some polish and real poise. It'd be great if opposition supporters walked away thinking "who were those two?!?"
Clarke and Coffield to hold their own against other young players and prove why they were top 10 picks.
Overall improvement in skill level - hitting more targets by foot and scoring more goals.
Getting it together as a team. I know its pre round 1 so they aren't going to have this down pat, but some hint of a system or a game plan of some sort would be nice.

Some mongrel and hard at the ball contests. Tough football that sets the tempo going forward.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

Its the clibs first game so they could either play ordinary and rusty or blitz it. Its a big unknown.
The result is not massive, but given there are only 2 proper pre-season games the best side needs to play together and try implement the game plan to be ready and raring for Rd 1.
Can't wait to watch the highlights as I don't have fox footy.

Improvement in kicking for goal and decision making. Improvement in individual players. The result is irrelevant, unless its a really poor display.
Remember Carlton will know internally that they are still very much in a development phase, so they will be geared to get early results to get members enthusiastic.

Re: What do you need to see Wednesday night?
besides the standard no injuries, better kicking at goal and the like I want to see
* A game plan that adapts to what is occurring on the field
* Balls being handballed in front of the players when running rather than to where they are making them stop and wait
* Not handballing to a guy about to get tackled
* Players shepherding when not in possession
* Armo slotting back into the middle as if he never left
* Longer doing more than just rucking.
* First-second year players really getting involved even if they mess up. There to learn tonight as the result is meaningless
* Paddy to do more than crash packs. I want to see second and third efforts this year
* Lonie to start sticking tackles
* Someone to kick a torp, Just because they are awesome

Running out the game and showing our superior fitness levels. Paddy going off like a frog in a sock would be good as well. A nice bag and some big clunkers, thanks Patrick.
"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."
