Re: Numpty Account Deletion
Warning to remedial readers (or those with a 'remedial' speed internetty connection): Long post. You may wish to just skip to the (very short) summary that is the following post.
After having a little read of several fellow Saintsationalist’s recent body of work, I’ve learnt something. I didn't realise how many literalist Americans there are posting here on SS! They don't.get.irony.
I love irony though. So to be the contrarian (and in homage to our now Con G being in stereo ), in defence of SS’s latest martyr...
Didn't post on Saints' matters?
Not even close to true. However, I could name a couple of Saintsationalists (and one in particular) who have actually never once posted on Saints' matters. (Which I don't have a problem with, btw.)
Racist?
Back to irony - and satire. Those who consider Numpty Dumpty-postings racist, either don't get irony, or are being inadvertently racist themselves. As for actual bona fide racist posts, well, I could again name a couple of Saintsationalists. (Which I do have a problem with – the sentiments, not the posters themselves.)
Humour?
Ok, one couldn’t really bag-out anyone on this topic. Why? Because Numpty Dumpty clearly wasn't aiming for humour. Why? Because, IMHO there is nothing funny about the type of bloke who is currently the US Pres'.
Actual humour (or maybe irony again?).
Now we're talkin'. Good old Parkster is humourous. You gotta’ love Parkey. (I do.) Defends the Turnip. Calls for our club to be ripping-off pensioners. Calls for using the services of prostitutes. And all on a forum that Simon, and fair enough too, wants to be 'open to all ages'! Classic! Then... comes back feigning indignation and crying racism... and all in response to Turnip's actual words and sentiments... being presented back to him/her. Parkey is clearly one Saintsationalist who does get irony! Personally, I’m lovin’ it.
Similar re 'Mr Huggins' over gun control/the latest US school mass-shooting. Initially to the reader, this is a bit surprising, especially since it can be read somewhere that he's '(usually) a very stable genius.' But no, actually nothing surprising there at all. Because, Huggy also ‘gets’ irony.
I love good theatre. And like Parkey and Huggy, I love good irony.
Sadly though, not enough of our fellow Sainsationalists can see through things like Parkey and ‘Mr Huggins’. Numpty Dumpty has copped the big ‘You're fired!’, or so I read in a post up above. Hmmmm... Imitation is said to be the sincerest form of flattery. More irony...?
So the baying of the mob has been listened to. Again. SS gets to add another lost poster to the likes of Pluggsy, that surfer dude, Joffaboy, Pluggsy (again), Bunk Moreland, Big Marty, Dave, Deemsy’ (remember him?), Pluggsy (yet again), Westy, Dan Warna, White Winmar, Pluggsy (once more, with feeling), Zac Attack, Holly Valance, GT (remember him?) and JohnPeterBudgeFanClub. (Who else have I forgotten???) And on top of those, we have the gagging of/howling down of/or simply the going a bit quiet of the likes of The Perfectionist, TotheTop, Sunsaint and Markp (love your work, love your work, love your work, and love your work guys).
The SSss (that's SaintSational slippery slope) to vanilla continues. This place may yet become sanitized and soulless, Big Girl’s Blouse Mk 2. (Dust off your cardigans.) Sure, it's the quiet time of the year, but I don't recall previous years being this quiet(?) Tumbleweeds...
A read of Numpty Dumpty posts will actually show no breach of forum rules. Newsflash! Copping (forum rule breaching, btw) vitriolic responses from a small lynch mob of the perpetually outraged, does not equate to trolling.
Whereas, a read of posts from some (certainly not all though) of the baying anti-Numpty cartel will show a considerable history of actual breaching of forum rules in their exchanges, and with any number of their fellow Saintsationalists. Abusively attacking fellow posters, c/f attacking the sentiments of their post/s. Now there's the actual breaching of forum rules for you. Naughty.
Whereas, when (repeatedly) abused, Numpty Dumpty posts that I've read have never once returned the vitriol. Maybe that’s the real reason why Numpty ‘had to go’? Always replied to abuse in (even if not with) good humour!?! I guess that’s simply not the ‘Saintsational way’? Heaven forbid! What would happen to Saintsational’s world-famous theatrics (and Matrix's popcorn sales) if everyone started responding in good humour...?
Basically, people who wanted Numpty Dumpty out, either are literalist Americans who don’t ‘get’ irony or satire. Or, if they do, then that implies they don’t like to see certain subjects satirised... which then implies that maybe they actually do support racism, bigotry, sexism and guns for all. (Think about it.)
And as for the 'get a life’ jibes. Seriously??? Hardly an argument to promote a POV. More like a tired, meaningless and totally illogical cliche. As in, therefore, everyone who is a regular reader, let alone poster... needs to 'get a life'. (Again, think about it.) If one wants to use such a cliche, then maybe at least direct it a bit more appropriately? Like, towards those who (seemingly) so need to ‘get a life’, that they have (seemingly) nothing better to do... than (regularly) jump aboard every time the lynch mob of the self-appointed ‘moral guardians’, starts frothing at the mouth and howling at the moon.
But hey, that’s ok. As I said... like Parkey and Huggy, I love irony. (And theatre.)
Ok, back to the tumbleweeds... at least, till our SS thought-control police find their next enemy of the people...

Re: Numpty Account Deletion
Can all the Numpty posts be moved to the general forum or something. They have nothing to do with Saints football.
Fact is. Numpty's posts from the last 12 months and beyond were all in the same style and satire of Trump (I couldn't care if it was Hitler or Idi Amin or Roger Federer). He/She contributed nothing to any football discussion...ever. It was just endless, pointless and boring SPAM that ruined threads and the footy board.
Anyway...HE'S FIRED! Next.

What a funny old fella is Numpty, he gets in all manner of strife.
He obviously leads an exciting life, and honey's his favourite fare.
wtf?...oh...it's hardly so very surprising...
He's a really amazing old bear.
Goodbye Numpty!

2nd Interviewer: Why didn't you call the police?
Vercotti: Well I had noticed that the lad with the thermonuclear device was the chief constable for the area. So a week later they called again and told me the cheque had bounced and said... I had to see... Doug.
2nd Interviewer: Doug?
Vercotti: Doug (takes a drink) Well, I was terrified. Everyone was terrified of Doug. I've seen grown men pull their own heads off rather than see Doug. Even Dinsdale was frightened of Doug.
2nd Interviewer: What did he do?
Vercotti: He used... sarcasm. He knew all the tricks, dramatic irony, metaphor, pathos, puns, parody, litotes and... satire. He was vicious.

Speaking of satire,
there was this terrific comedian on TV last night doing an impression of Trump.
He suggested the solution to school massacres was to "Arm the teachers with automatic weapons".
Hilarious.

Davey M, the read was worth the while, but the effort I am afraid was wasted. I don't know what forum rules you read, but the ones I have seen certainly don't call for diversity of thought or style, and most certainly encourage a good session of therapeutic goose-stepping around the kitchen en masse to ensure that all the good little supporters are in cerebral lock-step........
You'll notice the irony in my use of a French term in the same sentence as the phrase "goose-stepping".....

I reckon diversity (except when goose-stepping, of course) is generally ok around here though.
Just as long as it's a diversity that's been approved by our self-appointed politburo of moral guardians. We clearly have a small but vocal clique of fellow Saintstaionalists, who still hero-worship Big Brother. (As in, of the '1984' kind. )
Yes, I saw what you did there TB. And, as the likes of some of the beloved Saintsationalists whom I mentioned in a post above would attest... irony is always worth the effort.True Believer wrote:You'll notice the irony in my use of a French term in the same sentence as the phrase "goose-stepping".....
PS: I thought that 'in cerebral lock-step' was also a pretty damn good turn of phrase.

Not worth worrying about, PS. Worse poster than numpty. Slowly climbing down the ladder of relevance and success.

i dont get it
'tumbleweeds' seems to be the word of the moment
isnt any chitchat better than no chitchat
being one who bores easily
Numptys main id (whoever that is) reads as a Soul who does the same
and was lookn for a outlet to express into the void
that is ss in the offy
which , by the way , takes a tad of effort
all of em , who were putting in the effort
to jamble a few words together
get barbs blown up their rectum
when the ol girl finally keels over
into the silence of non participation
blame the maggots with the rope

And what a void numpty's mind was. You talk of having a right to an opinion and write. I hope you see the irony in criticising those who do express themselves when you find those opinions and posts contrary to your own. Then you complain no one is responding to your taunts. It's not that other posters who don't agree with you are hiding. Maybe they couldn't be bothered, which must annoy you even more. You remind me of an old boss I had, who after calling for suggestions for the office then blasted all the ideas that didn't equate with his own. He thought he was pretty s*** hot and superior to the rest of us as well. You may fire when ready, Chumley, Bumley!
"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

Re: Numpty Account Deletion
I got the impression that asiu wasn't criticising those on here for having opinions, he was criticising those who were incapable of having their own opinions, who were guilty of also mounting a lynch party for one who dared to defy the cerebral lockstep convention. Correct me if I'm wrong there Asiu?Drake Huggins wrote:And what a void numpty's mind was. You talk of having a right to an opinion and write. Re: Numpty Account Deletion
I quite enjoyed his humour.parkeysainter wrote:Can all the Numpty posts be moved to the general forum or something.
Next.
Moving all those posts would take ages. Search for them, locate each one in multiple threads, select thread in General Forum for each one to be moved to. Move it. The mods are volunteers.
