New guernsey number suggestions
I don't believe in 'retiring' numbers, as we have so many more players than an NBA team, and we don't have numbers that go above 50. I'm divided on giving a champion's number away immediately. Giving Cripps 35 was a mistake. Dunstan and Sinclair could be worthy recipients of 7 and 35 respectively. I think they need to prove their worth, on the other hand it shows a kid we have confidence in them.
This is what I'd like to see
11 Coffield
12 - Leave vacant for a year, then give to Paddy
24 - Clark, give him 13 when Lonie is delisted
33 Clavarino
38 Paton
40 Langlands

Sounds good but what about a number for Logan Austin?quirky84 wrote:I don't believe in 'retiring' numbers, as we have so many more players than an NBA team, and we don't have numbers that go above 50. Re: New guernsey number suggestions
There’s been a definite pattern since Richo came aboard that the draftees get high numbers and “earn” an upgrade.
I reckon we’ll see that with Number 11 (maybe White), and the brand new kids will get the later lockers...

I think they all should be be given No 1 cos they're all number 1 in my eyes.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

I like the idea of Clavarino 33 as he could become a new millenium Robert Elphingstone who was a great defender during the eighties when we really struggled.

24 should go to Austin, he was related to dumpster and he is a defender right?

Re: New guernsey number suggestions
Joey virtually offered Hunter Clark his Number 11 on draft night. I think it's likely to be a perfect fit.
I generally like players who've earned it to be moved up to the lower numbers. (Sinclair definitely would have qualified, but he's already got the holy 35.)
This year I'm happy for everyone to stay put, and hand the numbers out in order of the draft (more or less):
11: Hunter Clark. As per Joey's orders. Love it.
12: Nick Coffield. Nick to Nick. Keep the two super-draftees together, side by side forever. Coffield will be a worthy wearer of the No 12.
24: Logan Austin. The Dumpster's nephew (cousin ?). It has to be his number. It's a nice club gesture to Dempster too.
33: Clavarino. The new Eel!! From his highlights reel, he's going to be a beauty.
38: Paton. A good apprentice's number.
45: Doulton Langlands. A good junior apprentice's number. He'll be next to Mav, who'll teach him how to train
Please make it thus.

Phil Narkle. They retired his number after he returned to WA.

Re: New guernsey number suggestions
agree with leaving 12 vacant for a year as respect to roo but then just allocate it like any other number. Players make numbers famous not the other way around

Re: New guernsey number suggestions
What I would do is give Rooey's Number 12 to a key forward, and I think Josh Bruce would likely get it.
Bruce #12 from #27
Coffield #11
Austin #24
Clark #27
Clavarino #33
Paton #38
Langlands #45
Would like to see Doulton get #38 and Paton get #45
Would Consider giving Webster #11 to. If that happened then, give Clark 29, and give Coffield 27.

Re: New guernsey number suggestions
Would a rose by any other name not smell as sweet? What's in a number? Nothing I would respectfully suggest.
"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."
