Great picks. Very happy with the selections. The first 2 will become good midfielders. Clavarino could be great too.

I reckon this will be our super draft.
Clark and Coffield could look like seriously good players to me.

Bizarre.
Seems like group think at work AFL recruiter style.

Very positive outlook Mr Con. Clarke and Coffield have the goods and tools. Super exciting! They are two top ten picks...lets remember this folks!Con Gorozidis wrote:I'm very pleased.parkeysainter wrote:Great picks. Very happy with the selections. The first 2 will become good midfielders. Claravino could be a major suprise packet. Not sure on Paton but who knows, they obviously saw something in him.

But are they midfeilders or BF.parkeysainter wrote:Great picks. Very happy with the selections. The first 2 will become good midfielders. Clavarino could be great too.
Also dont understand the logic behind Ben Paton. Anothet medium backman? So he will be behind Rice, White, Clark, Coffield, Savage, Geary, Long, McKenzie, Webster and you could slso include in that list Newnes.
Why not take a risk and go someone like Joel Garner, Kyron Hayden, Dylan Moore, Jackson Ross or even Billy H?

Re: Live draft thread
Not that it means everything however we have chosen three from the 2017 all Australian team
Our first pick excluded
So each can play
All appear to have solid foot skills
Go saints
I think we have done well

No. We did well with what we had.
Our problem is that we did not finish low enough to get the real cream.
I would have loved our first two picks to have been what Freo gained. BUT you can only get what is available.
I would have loved some star mids, but the best were all gone by the time our picks came.

Re: Live draft thread
Disagree that we did well tonight. We will get a pass mark in the media but not by much. Hunter and Coffield were on the cards so can't acted surprised about those two. But then to get 2 more defenders???? That makes no sense.saintsRrising wrote:magnifisaint wrote:I'm loathe to criticize the club so who reckons we f***ed up?

Hunter Clarke sounds like more of an inside mid than an outside one. I.e. he will go in and get his won ball just like about 5 other people already in the team.
Oscar Clavarino The only major doubt as to why he would go late is due to his height. Despite being the size of a key position defender, he is better suited to an intercept and rebounding role which is often reserved for mid-sized players. So another defender who doesn't sound like he will be a KPP.
And why not take a punt on someone else instead of Patton. Nothing against him but pick another position not another defender.
Not happy but will support the boys.
But if we draft in a Rookie defender on Monday I will lose my S@#t

Rice and White may not make it, have you ever seen 2 players develop as slow as these 2 ?
The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

You realise Garner played HBF. Big deal anyway most of the kids playing midfield in the TAC cup have the more mature bodies with less scope for improvementfootynut wrote:But are they midfeilders or BF.parkeysainter wrote:Great picks. I would say that Sav, Dmac and White are obvious candidates to go into the middle... Newnes too

The Saints sure do like Dandenong Stingrays: Battle, Lonie, Minchington, Pierce, Rice, White, Wright and now Clark and Clavarino on their books. Roberton and Savage too.
