The more I read, the more that I am very confident that there will be two very good kids available at picks 7 and 8.

There would seem to be a pretty healthy Top Dozen, or more, at least (with say at least 9 of them mids) and so picks 7 and 8 should give us a choice of 2 out of 6 or so good players.

Agree. I'm worried we're going to reach for someone without a proven track record because of traits like athleticism and versatility.

I would simply pick whoever is left from the following list

I also wouldn't be upset with Fogarty or Higgins but i really hope we don't pick Bonar on the back of good combine testing and if we pick a tall i won't be happy.

Good, all round package, who does most things well and has no obvious weaknesses. Very good by foot, which is what we need. Higgins is around 10-11 in most phantom drafts. I believe his size is an issue for some. 178 cm is the same size as Joey and Gresh, remembering Gresh dropped to 18 in the 2015 draft. If that draft was held again he'd go top 5 and justifiably so. Higgins is the next Gresham. Size, for once, doesn't matter, when it comes to quality. Watch his highlights and see how clean his disposal is. Better than those ranked higher like LDU and Rayner.

Well argued point. I think the presence of Lonie on the list puts Higgins into the unlikely territory. Unfairly perhaps. But they will see Lonie and Gresh and decide they need to go for a taller mid.
The highlights and attitude of Higgins suggest he will be a really good AFL player. I wouldn't be disappointed if his name was called.

Andrew McGrath from Essendon is 178cm. If they can play, they can play. We have already a few bigger mids in Ross, Steele, Stevens, and Acres. It would be foolish to disregard Higgins on the basis of his height
