Re: St Kilda Fixture 2018
negatives are only 2 MCG matches yet again, and an away game at the Cattery - effectively 7 non-Melbourne games!
i am Melbourne Skies - sometimes Blue Skies, Grey Skies, even Partly Cloudy Skies.

Yes, it's 10am and I've just come from a 4 hour session celebrating the 2018 fixture with thousands of Saints fans...
...but in non-media land, it's a pretty good draw! I thought we'd get spanked for our lousy finish this season, but the only negative query I have is how we ended up playing an away game to North for Good Friday??? Great to see they're making the Crows come to us for a change as well, long overdue.

Re: St Kilda Fixture 2018
Not the point. How many years in a row have we been forced to travel to Adelaide twice? About time the Crows faced us in Melbourne.noddy04 wrote:Doesnt matter where we play the crows it will still be the same result as previous years. Re: St Kilda Fixture 2018
SAINTS PRIMED FOR RISE
THE team which received the third-hardest draw this year – St Kilda – is in for a much easier time next season.
After missing finals with an 11th-placed finish on the ladder, the Saints have been given double-up matches against Richmond, GWS, Melbourne, Hawthorn and North Melbourne in a draw which will see those from Seaford smiling.
St Kilda has also been boosted by inclusion in the Good Friday game against North Melbourne in Round 2, replacing the Western Bulldogs, on top of three other Friday night matches.
The Saints also have home matches against each of the 'big four' Melbourne clubs - Collingwood, Carlton, Richmond and Essendon.

Re: St Kilda Fixture 2018
At first glance I was bit worried but the draw looks quite good for the Saints. Plenty of prime time games too.
We are playing the 2 bottom sides at Etihad in the first 2 games. That is a big bonus.
There are a couple of hard road trips though (notably GWS and Port but possibly West Coast and Freo also depending on their form).

Re: St Kilda Fixture 2018
From AFL website:
WE SAY: Consecutive six-day breaks are not great, but St Kilda handled it well last year, going 3-1 when playing off shorter rests. Two games in Perth within 21 days is a tough task for the fitness staff as well. Having said that, the chance for a decent start looms, with just one trip outside Victoria in the first seven rounds, while six of the Saints' last seven matches will be at Etihad Stadium. - Dinny Navaratnam

Re: St Kilda Fixture 2018
Well looking at that unless we find some improvement we'll finish around the same position as last year.
Here's how I rate our chances. Of course who knows what the form will be like of any two teams at anyone time? I think I have been maybe a little optimistic. others may disagree.
The Games:
Round 1 Saturday, March 24 at 3.35pm St Kilda v Brisbane at Etihad Stadium. 80%
Round 2 Friday, March 30 at 4.20pm North Melbourne v St Kilda at Etihad Stadium 60%
Round 3 Saturday, April 7 at 7.25pm St Kilda v Adelaide at Etihad Stadium 25%
Round 4 Sunday, April 15 at 4.40pm Geelong v St Kilda at GMHBA 30%
Round 5 Saturday, April 21 at 1.45pm St Kilda v Greater Western Sydney at Etihad Stadium 50%
Round 6 Saturday, April 28 at 7.25pm Hawthorn v St Kilda at University of Tasmania Stadium 45%
Round 7 Sunday, May 6 at 3.20pm St Kilda v Melbourne at Etihad Stadium 40%
Round 8 Saturday, May 12 at 8.10pm Fremantle v St Kilda at Perth Stadium 50%
Round 9 Saturday, May 19 St Kilda v Collingwood at Etihad Stadium 50%
Round 10 Saturday, May 26 at 1.45pm Richmond v St Kilda at the MCG 40%
Round 11 Saturday, June 2 at 8.10pm West Coast v St Kilda at Perth Stadium 40%
Round 12 Saturday, June 9 at 7.25pm St Kilda v Sydney at Etihad Stadium 30%
Round 13 Saturday, June 16 at 4.35pm Gold Coast v St Kilda at Metricon Stadium 60%. = 6.0 wins
Round 14 BYE
Round 15 Sunday, July 1 at 1.10pm Melbourne v St Kilda at the MCG 40%
Round 16 Saturday, July 7 at 4.35pm Port Adelaide v St Kilda at Adelaide Oval 40%
Round 17 Friday, July 13 at 7.50pm St Kilda v Carlton at Etihad Stadium 65%
Round 18 Friday, July 20 at 7.50pm St Kilda v Richmond at Etihad Stadium 45%
Round 19 Saturday, July 28 at 4.35pm Greater Western Sydney v St Kilda at Spotless Stadium 25%
Round 20 Saturday, August 4 at 7.25pm St Kilda v Western Bulldogs at Etihad Stadium 40%
Round 21 Friday, August 10 at 7.50pm Essendon v St Kilda at Etihad Stadium 40%
Round 22 Saturday, August 18 at 7.25pm St Kilda v Hawthorn at Etihad Stadium 50%
Round 23 TBC St Kilda v North Melbourne 60% = 11 wins
So 11 wins for the season on percentage chances.
Start favourite in only five games though. Equal favourite in another four.

Re: St Kilda Fixture 2018
For a Melbourne based Saintly family with kids, this is the best fixture we have had in YEARS. The Sunday twilight graveyard now belongs to others.
And we get a start, at home, against teams we can BEAT.
I'm happy.

No offence but this is an exercise in futility. Each season is like chalk and cheese.
