St Kilda stilll being screwed re Stadium deals
http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/s ... z6o8p.html
When everyone was getting their jollies about HQ buying out Etihad, I was always suspect that the see you next Tuesday’s would want to reduce our compo whilst improving our returns - ie not giving us any nett benefit.
Banisy will be crucial in fighting the AFL once he sees Footscray’s deal from the inside and will be able to launch a true double barrelled assault on the Docklands Mafia.
Bunch of theiving crooks.

I found it hilarious that a couple of their top execs were cheating womanising arseholes and another bloke went around king hitting blokes in some local footy comp. Feel very sorry for the victims of these idiots too.
Hopefully Bains and Finnis join together and get all the clubs a much better deal.

USELESS FACT: The WADA case against Essendon (in Sydney as well) is exactly 10 years to the day that Australia qualified for the 2006 FIFA World Cup.

How long will St Kilda be screwed @ the Dome ?
The laughable situation in place @ the Dome continues relentlessly it seems.
Our Club has already been severely ripped off because of AFL assumptions that near enough support is good enough.
The notion that 'first club in'- Essendon could siphon of the cream of some kind of better tenancy agreement over any other club joining later was always a wrong & flawed strategy by the AFL. This approach from day one ignores the many people who believe equalisation s vital to the on-going health of within the AFL competition.
It strikes me that the AFL is comfortable enough having the 'poorer' Melb clubs (Saints;Bulldogs;Roos) remain the poorer in the interests of not upsetting the traditionally well heeled clubs.
The number of people that have to come through the gate @ the Dome before St.Kilda make a dollar is huge.
The AFL needs to do a whole lot better than this.

The reason we are $6m in debt is because we have had to live with this disgraceful deal for all of this century.

Why is St Kilda stilll being screwed @ the Dome?
Hey Enrico I had to stop myself mentioning the $6 million dollar issue in my previous post as I felt I might be coming across as too negative while alienating too many Sainters with my criticism of the AFl.
However, I'm glad you said what you did,
"The reason we are $6m in debt is because we have had to live with this disgraceful deal for all of this century."
I whole-heartedly agree.
Gillon follows the Saints so I hope he's interested enough to help us escape the noose that is around our Saintly necks.
With the built in rip-offs it doesn't yet really feel like a home.
If we were GWS the high draft picks would be avalanching towards us or if there was no GWS we would be still getting higher draft picks than at the present.

confused why wb and north aren’t in as much debt. Pretty sure there is more to it than the deal. By the way we got the second or third most money off the afl last year. I think we would still be carrying a substantial debt from building Seaford.Ellaandjohn wrote:confused why wb and north aren’t in as much debt. Pretty sure there is more to it than the deal. It is expensive to abandon that and then build in Moorabbin when it should have been there in the first place.

I’m confused why Parramatta doesn’t have the same level of debt as us as well.Ellaandjohn wrote:confused why wb and north aren’t in as much debt. Pretty sure there is more to it than the deal. Pretty sure the 2 sides who play at Etihad with similar deals is relevant. Re: St Kilda stilll being screwed re Stadium deals
So, what are the current debt levels of North and Bulldogs? Multi Million $ debt too? How much better off would all 3 clubs be with an equal stadium deal from Etihad to date (the same deal as Essendon) even after you deduct the recently introduced equalisation fund? I am told $10m+Ellaandjohn wrote:Pretty sure the 2 sides who play at Etihad with similar deals is relevant. I don’t know the answer to that but I doubt all 3 clubs would be 10 million better off. We get more money than any other Victorian club as it is. I know you pay interest on your debt but so would have wb and north. They have managed their debt with lesser crowds. I would be looking at the Seaford move more than Etihad. Matter of fact we are probably getting more money off the afl than any good deal at Etihad would give us

Re: St Kilda stilll being screwed re Stadium deals
$10M per club is not bizarre when you consider we were reamed for about 13 years - reasitically we are talking around $700-$800K per annum.Ellaandjohn wrote:BackFromUSA wrote:So, what are the current debt levels of North and Bulldogs? That’s the simple way to look at it but we get between 2 to 6 million a year more than most clubs soif you take that off we would be much worse off. Re: St Kilda stilll being screwed re Stadium deals
Stadium deal compensation that you are talking about (which adds to the long standing AFL distribution to all clubs) has only been in place for a few years - it is the acknowledgment that for a dozen or so years that we got screwed but offers no back compensation. Previous board members have told me it made us $10m+ worse off.

And probably contributed to poor decisions like the move to Seaford. Anyone calculated the net cost to the club in moving to Seaford then back to Moorabbin?

35,000 members, very poor attendances at every game-
no wonder the Saints are poor cousins.
Fans should start supporting- bums on seats.
More people equates to more power.

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Re: St Kilda stilll being screwed re Stadium deals
Pokies is the answer. Bulldogs 4-5 years ago were looking to gain the 4th highest revenue from pokies. That was a tough target but achievable given the effort of the Family club Hawthorn, Collingwood and Carlton to secure the top 3 positions (actually in reverse order to my listing). At the time the clubs revenue were around; Carlton $23m, Collingwood $22.5m, Hawthorn $21.5m. No trouble when you have that revenue coming in. Source was a media article (5 years ago) on pokies and AFL clubs involvement.Ellaandjohn wrote:confused why wb and north aren’t in as much debt. Pretty sure there is more to it than the deal. 42 thousand members (14th)
10th for average attendance in the afl
so we should be middle of the road for income, but we are not we are bottom 4 why is that?
