Ok. I am ok with this then. Pierce takes coughlans spot on the rookie list. Holmes delisted. Austin takes Holmes spot on the senior list.saintbrat wrote:diddley wrote:I was under the impression you had to delist someone to rookie them? Is this not the case?

Leaves us with 4 open spots on the senior list, and 0 on the rookie list.
Meaning we will use all 4 picks in the draft.
7= roo’s spot
8= joey’s spot
34= Dempsters spot
45= pierce’s Spot
This means no rookie upgrades, which apparently doesn’t matter now anyway, because of the way the rookie list works in 2018.
Let’s hope we get
7= Cerra
8= Brayshaw
34= Zac Bailey
45= Tom McCartin

Bains should have been escorted out of the building by security the minute the club found out he was leaving for pooscray.
This is ridiculous.

St Kilda can confirm the following list changes ahead of the 2017 AFL Draft.
American-born ruckman Jason Holmes has been informed he will not be offered a new contract for 2018.
Fellow ruckman Lewis Pierce has also been delisted, however, the Saints have committed to re-drafting the 22-year-old in the 2017 Rookie Draft.
Both Holmes and Pierce struggled for opportunity this season with Billy Longer preferred as the number 1 ruck option and Tom Hickey the next in line.
Senior Coach Alan Richardson said Holmes would always be welcome back at St Kilda.
The former college basketballer became the first born and raised American to play an AFL match when he made his debut against Geelong in Round 21, 2015.
The 27-year-old went on to play five AFL games but failed to break into the senior side in 2017.
“To play just one AFL match is an enormous achievement for someone who knew almost nothing of our game a few years ago,” Richardson said.
“His commitment to learning, improving, and to St Kilda, over the past four years has been outstanding and his strong character and personality has been an asset around the club.”
“We wish him well for whatever the future holds and thank him for his contribution to the Saints.”
Holmes was drafted to St Kilda with pick number 36 in the 2014 AFL Rookie Draft.

Pierce will be delisted, then redrafted via the rookie draft.

All the data he was going to steal would have been stolen over the previous few weeks.SaintPav wrote:Bains should have been escorted out of the building by security the minute the club found out he was leaving for pooscray.
This is ridiculous.
What do you think was on those USB sticks he took home in his pocket.
And that lap top hard drive did not take Long or Longer to clone.
But there is a major construction project underway at Moorabbin.
It is near impossible for someone new to pick that up mid way through construction.
Even a long handover is not desirable.
It is hard to tell someone every detail you have done for maybe years and then them to grasp every one of those details.
Seems Bains has agreed to a short 6 week handover.
The contractor will celebrate the opportunities for variations.
The membership money I just paid with a new credit card will be enjoyed by the contractor's kids.

Re: Holmes delisted Pierce to rookie Bains stays until Decem
We have delisted Holmes & Pierce.
This clears room for the 4 picks that Elshaugh has said we will use at the draft.
But this means we have no intention of pursuing Talia anymore.
Or any delisted player for that matter.
It also means Marshall is stuck on the rookie list for at least another year.
Minchington and Wright breathe a little more easily, they survive for a 7th and 6th year to prove themselves.

As has been mentioned, there's a good chance the rookie list is overhauled next year and becomes an extension of the main list anyway (ie. no promotion / demotion).ace wrote:We have delisted Holmes & Pierce.

We obviously wanted another option for a tall defender and have got one in Austin who is taller, quicker and who all round looks a much better option.
With the recovery Goddard that gives us Carlisle, Brown and Austin to choose from.
Plus with tall running defenders in Robbo and Gilbert to provide flexibility against some teams if desired. ie If say against the Tigers we only want to play one true KPD.

Eff me dead.
Forgot about Wright.
He sounds like a great bloke but he needs to be delisted.
Do other clubs give players 6 years to prove themselves?
I'd honestly prefer us to delist him, Minch & Lonie and pick up a few delisted FA's that cost nothing.
Not fussed if they only last a year or two, would be better than hanging onto players that have extremely little chance of doing anything.
Add to the above Goddard who is constantly injured and slow, plus Freeman who is a speculative stock - hero or zero and the mind boggles.

This is why although I love the fact Rice nominated us he really should have picked Carlton, to be at least not be played once in 2 Years is a joke. Could have easily have played against Melbourne in the last round.saintspremiers wrote:Eff me dead.

Yep agreed. Wouldn't have a clue whether he was good or bad for the club, but the fact remains once he's committed to the opposition he has no business staying on in any capacity at the Saints. Mind boggling

Unsure why the hate on Wright, he's actually not that bad.

Is there ANY chance that another club could swoop in on Pierce before we re-draft?
or is there an "un-written" agreement between clubs?
