I thought she was a guru and a master and dedicated to the saints cause? Surely he is irreplaceable?

Turns out he's just a run of the mill AFL boys club company man.

As I've been saying all along.
God you're negatives comments are just getting real old. Surely Ameet, like every other person in this country, is entitled to change jobs in order to advance his career.
Of course he is.
Which is what I've been saying all along.
He is a career AFL corporate. Competent but nothing more.
He has been treated like some Saints hero on here and all I've ever said is the praise has been over blown.

That isn't negative.

Definitely agree, like 99% of the work force he isn’t indispensable.

My thoughts exactly. He was through with us. He was smart taking this new offer, because he now won't have to answer to having a very ordinary trade period for us.

He was on assignment to track us down a premium player for us all year, but he didn't, so he has ultimately failed this off-season.

Oh well, another gun for hire goes elsewhere.

OR- he already knew he had the Bulldogs job, which he must have because you arent handed roles like that overnight, and conveniently didnt bother to do any DD on the players available or the draft.

As if he would have thoroughly acted in our best interests.

And if anyone at the club had any inkling he might be going and let him remain in control of our trade period, then they are culpable.

Shame on Ameet Bains- the honourable and professional thing to do would have been to at least excuse himself from the trade process.

He was always going to leave. He was talked about for the CEO role at Hawthorn, with Caro saying he would probably get that job. Lethlean's departure also had the AFL sniffing around. Ameet did mention earlier in the year that if he took another job he would definitely hang around until the end of the trade period. Promise kept. A big promotion on the road to the Death Star at Docklands. Highly regarded in the industry and regarded as a possible future CEO of the AFL. Hard to replace, but there are many who want to work in the AFL. There won't be a shortage of contenders.

"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

Exactly. Its Con Negative Nuts, what do you expect. He'll be bagging out the replacement and our new draft picks in a few weeks and try relate everything to how incompetent the club is. He would be rejoicing Ameet has moved on.

Anyway, good luck to Bains. He served the Saints very well. People move on in careers and life for higher positions.

If Bains was on here leaking secrets he should have been sacked. Unless he was leaking false information for strategic reasons.

As if he is above it.

People put people on pedestals who don't deserve to be put there.
Bains is a bog standard AFL company man. Nothing more. Nothing less. He is not a guru or a genius or a master. He is nothing special. Just a regular bloke in a suit. That's all. He uses marketing and media spin like every one else in the footy industry.
Every chance he would stoop to Sainsational.
The hero worship is entirely irrational.

Who said he was a hero/guru/genius? Just a very smart operator, like many others in similar positions at AFL clubs. They have to be, or they don't last long.

Agree with all of that, but I find it a really odd choice given Peter Gordon is notoriously hard to get along with. Surely he’s taken on the riskiest CEO assignment going around?

Maybe he wants to test his legal nous against Mr Gordon, he might learn a thing or 2 from an expert about being overly litigious.

Bains was one of the key players in the Saints’ push to return to Moorabbin, which will take place early next year. Previously, he played a significant role in shaping St Kilda’s playing list.

The Bulldogs were forced to release a statement to members last month, with Kent saying he had always intended to step aside at some point and would stay on until a replacement was found.

Kent also dismissed suggestions the club had off-field issues, strongly denying media claims “that ‘the problem’ lies in the fact that our president is an ‘autocrat’.”

Bains played VAFA football with Old Melburnians and Monash Blues until 2010, and has been with the Saints since the following year when he was appointed general manager player list and legal affairs.

He has a double degree in law and banking/finance, combining his passion for football with his legal background.

Sharing info about deals already done with hardcore fans just before the media release is fine imo.
I don't have any concerns if a little info was leaked here slightly before the official media release.
What is the harm done? None that I can see.
