Yes indeed, EM. The AFL has a tremendous appetite for social commentary and involvement, except when it comes to gambling. I know it's a voluntary contribution scheme, but revelations about Crown's dirty tactics when allegedly rigging poker machines leaves me feeling a tad disgusted. It's a mug's game, gambling.

"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

Drove past the new Moorabbin last week. The new complex is freaking massive and the old social club still remains where the pokies are. I'm pretty sure they are looking to revamp that also and bring it into the modern world. This new Moorabbin will really set the Saints up for the next 50 years as a solid and fantastic training base. I'm very sure it will help attract proven talent from other clubs too.

Yes if you know any pensioners with idle time or persons with an intellectually disability, then suggest they pay a visit there on pension day and pump those machines till it hurts!
Should be good for property prices also

Looking very good and its exciting for the club. A bold move into new frontiers.

Can't wait to watch some training and VFL games there.

Plans are on display at the Club-
Not sure if Part 2 is the end which still exists being replaced -- but I get the impression there is more planned for the southern end- maybe by the time we get our AFLW team

shame we dont' attract supporters and attendees like the bombers who have turned a $10 mill debt into a $5mill profit :(

maybe a question for the AGM in December

This place should be better than state of the art. You know how long state of the art lasts for and hopefully the complex is gigantic. You know that they don't won't to outgrow it in the first 5 years

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

How much did you have to spend to be a key donor?

Quite fitting a building and safety company sponsor a 'reimagining'
This is very cool.
But Im sad not one effort at retaining s.o.me.t.h.i.n.g......of the old.

Windsock?
Scoreboard?

Even part ofthe SC/Higgins. Yeah, its a shithole, but its doable.
Makes me kind of laugh,Id do it in an instant if it was my wheelhouse.
For we underestimate the power of this pulling people back. A pseudo ralling call..if you will.
Aint got the depths of the Magpies/Richmonds etc.

Anyway, new place does look exciting.
Meh.

Stop it Con - else youll be accused of being positive
The question about state of art has been raised - surely those yardsticks have already been established with collongwood, efc, and geelong
Let alone the interstate clubs even down to the suns which have an enviable setup at carrara
The question of retaining the old has been met by keeping a tiny portion of social club stand
And the question of watching vfl games there still has me asking why there has not been more undercover seating built.
A ring of grass circling the field is fine if you want to go back to the days of being able to pull the car up to the fence

Why on earth we would retain the SC building is beyond me. Time for a brand NEW start. Yes, it’s “part of the old” but the point is to move on to the NEW. There’s no reason whatsoever, why the club can’t incorporate a social club/ function area into the design for “New Moorabbin”

Go Saints! ( to hell with the rest )

it is coming down Jiggster- there is cafe and function space in the new building- and once the one section finished the rest will be demolished and part 1A will continue.
one of the reasons for the size is so they can begin to hold event's functions at moorabbin rather than having to pay elsewhere- more corporate options.
