Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
We went into this trade period looking for one maybe 2 elite A grade mids to finish of the side. Unfortunately there were none available, just B graders or players that would be a negative contribution to our culture. i dont understand people unhappy because we missed out on the likes of Balic, Watts, Stringer, Hartung Impey, Bartel, Motlop, Smith etc etc. No A graders there and none that will be a significant improvement that will take us deep in to September!
Nothing wrong with picking up a couple of top ten picks this year. We can reload and have a look at the guns such as Sloane next year. In the mean time, i believe we have a crop of about 10 players who are rising A graders and i think we will be very good next year.
As far as Jaxons goes, i think he does a wonderful job for the club by sharing what he can with the supporters. If you only want him to post when its 100% guaranteed you may as well just read the paper afterwards.

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
I agree that we have a crop of youngsters who have the potential to be A Grade players
Mc Cartin, Billings, Dunstan, Acres and Gresham
Add to that Carlisle and Freeman
Then the experience of Gilbert, Armitage and Steven
Then we have the potential of White and Goddard
Then those that came to us looking for opportunity such as Roberton, Bruce, Membrey and Steele
That is where we start from - and the pressure is in those players to deliver and take others with them
Then we have 7 and 8 in a few weeks time

No real quality was available, so pointless to just chase somebody for the sake
of bringing in another player.
Ah well, in 3 days we'll see what the go is
2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Not sure that's exactly how Afold Tihler got rolling, Ian Graham.Drake Huggins wrote:Godwin's Law. As soon as you mention the NAZIs in an argument, you lose. Here goes. BTW DDB, no good deed goes unpunished!samoht wrote:Has there been a Hitler or Nazi reference yet in this thread?
Apparently, long, meandering threads usually end up with one such reference or two.

You said it, mein Bruder!
"Is this the right room for an argument?"
"I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

I wonder what Jono O'Rourke is thinking now after choosing the Hawks over us?
I'd grab him for a third or fourth rounder if Hawks don't want him, thoughts?
Surely a former pick 2 would be worth the risk for a 3rd or 4th rounder? We do need midfielders.

But is our long term injury ward still taking a hit from Freezer and Armo?

Channel 10 reporting 7&8 are in play with GCS.
What’s the bet Ameet lands 2,21 and another 2nd rounder (they have heaps yea?)

Based on points, we would actually have to throw in pick 57(?) just to equal 2&21.MC Gusto wrote:Channel 10 reporting 7&8 are in play with GCS.

While I would love a second 2nd rounder thrown in, we might have to settle for 2&21 alone.

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
We should not be seduced - to put your eggs in Pick 2, then 21 for 7 & 8 is a nonsense to me.
We need more talent and 2 Top 10 Draft picks will address that far better than Pick 2 - and a far later pick
We have a soft under belly starting from the Ruck, to pace and precision ball usage from defence (noting Montagna is now retired) to mid-fielder skill sets again including pace and precision to forward skill sets again seeking pace and precision.
We need dangerous players you want the ball in the hands of
The key words are pace and precision - and 2 picks at 7 & 8 is better than putting all your eggs in the one basket
Our recruiters need to do their work on the top 10 - given the skill set we require across the ground and are currently missing, hence where we languish on the ladder
And we get 2 of them.

I blame the mods as well... there is a special thread made for the special people known as Jaxons sceptics.. move their posts over there!
And ban them from this thread!
Do your job!
And while you are at it, if you want to post rubbish about Ameet Bains then START A DAMN THREAD ON IT and talk to your stupid selves and stay away from here!!
Mods please clean up this mess... move posts to where they should be... and all you muppets, STAY ON TOPIC HERE and discuss trades and potential trades... not the credentials of posters
I come here because its been a habit for years.
Do you have any experience Moding this place?
You cant possibly imagine how long it takes to read every single darn thing on this place - where you dont get to contribute - bar being the "that person who made that decision" and 'fix it edit it move it remove it' then follow up the poster and the reporter and communicate with the other mods.
Dont throw any of this crap on me - Im here because i enjoy this place.
Im not responsible for what others post or how they behave.
This will be fixed up - when we have time.. a lot of time. Not 12.30pm on a work day.
You know what would help that, if everyone contributed to the forum and followed the rules. They are not overly difficult.
DDb has officially had enough.

We have interest in Tomlinson but won’t be using pick 7 or 8 on him.
Collingwood also in to him in a big way.
We are also exploring a young backman from Port.
Kane Cornes reporting Logan has requested trade.
This one will sting the doubters. Don't need to justify but well done Jaxon as always.
One of the only reasons this site is remotely relevant.

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
Good on you DDB. So easy to point the finger at the mods. FFS they're volunteers. A pretty thankless task managing the behaviour of various posters and one where you have to bite your tongue all the time and not say how you really feel. If you want to point a finger or two, point it at the keyboard warriors who can't accept that others enjoy Jaxons' input and need to constantly remind everyone of their scepticism instead of just letting it pass by.dals_da_bomb wrote:Are you for real? Am totally defending the mods. Posters need to stop being total knobheads. That would help. The keyboard warriors for a start. Tiresome to the max. Impossible for the mods to navigate their way through all that gumph, stay balanced and fair and be across every 'incident'.mightysainters wrote:Geez their are some absolute idiots on this forum... really does become tiresome and hard to follow.. been here since 2001 and this is the worst it's ever been.. mods really need to start banning and giving warnings
And FFS, if you think a post is worthy of a warning or ban, then report it. Mods do not read every thread and post. They're volunteers.

Jaxons called Austin a week or so ago
Also PMD me to say we’d either take 7$8 or 2&21 to the draft. That was 9 days ago
I’m Glad you guys got him to stop posting. He clearly adds no value
