With reports Tomlinson is gettable then are we looking at a trade for both.

How does pick 7 ,Hickey and Lonie sound for Smith and Tomlinson.

It would be saintsational if we could swoop in and steal Devon Smith from the Bombers. That would make my trade period.

They are the absolute worst club in the AFL to trade with.
Yeah. All the clubs indicate as such.

Still remember how they dragged the Carlisle thing on for ages and ages and threatened to do a deal with another club. They were trying to offer the Saints a packet of Doritos. I've heard Collingwood aren't much better. What do you expect from the two most arrogant clubs in the AFL though I guess.

A trade is a trade. Its a 50/50 deal for both parties.

Then gets used in ruck and gets tired and is no good at all.

There. Many players now bagged.
I don't know why you even bother following the saints to be honest, you even bag our best players who make the AA squad.

It's how a forum works.
We all offer opinions and they can all be wildly different-

Sounds like Motlop fluffing around, and the Dogs' massive backflip on Stringer might be holding everyone up...Geelong, Suns and Essendon sound like the big movers at this stage, all stranded. Good, gives us more time to sure up a deal on D Smith.

I get the feeling we are not done yet. Expect a Kiwi (1983) like run towards the end. Let the others do the posturing, huffing and puffing. Then when the deals need to be done, we'll swoop. I still reckon we might bag a decent player or two while hanging onto 7 or 8.LEt the dopers, filth, suns and dogs cannibalise each other.

"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."
"No you haven't"
"Oh shut up."

Hardly a backflip. Listening to Conors gets you nowhere.

Seems very very simple to me. Stringer is clearly worth 11. If Essendon want him they give 11.

Consider how easy the trade of Mitchel from Sydney was last year

Bombers are the problem,.not a "backflip" from bulldogs who are entitled to ask for 11

Publicly potting your own player as you shove him out the door, claiming a poor work ethic, then asking for a deal involving a high R1 pick (it's not a straight #11 for Stringer) is absolutely a backflip.

Ok will give you an update.
Haynes wants to come to us.
Tomlinson on the fence between staying or going and choosing Collingwood or us.
We are interested in Devon Smith and pitched to him last week, and would be happy to take him if Bombers can't do a deal.
Clearly we are reluctant to give up picks 7 and 8 so not sure how we do any of these deals.
We may do pick 8 for a later pick swap with GWS for Devon Smith but we want a pick in the teens that GWS don't have yet.
Still likely to go to draft with picks 7 and 8 at this stage, which I maintain is the right move.

Interested to read Haynes is keen, I gather GWS wont release him. What would we give up for he or Tomlinson? Would love to get Smith and do a number on the Bombers.

Does anyone else think that we should go for both Haynes/Tomlinson and Smith for pick 8? would GWS go for that? Would we be willing?
I'd take it in a flash, and use the other pick for best available mid.

There is no backflip at all. They said they will trade him and they still say they will trade him.
If it were not for all those things you mention, they would be keeping him. They have said they will trade him and they will but a trade means giving something and getting something. They never said they would give him for nothing!

Pick 11 is already a discount on a 23 year old all Australian with Stringers talent.
There is no backflip for them to ask for pick 11

Haynes contracted until end of 2019

Sounds like GWS would be reluctant to let him go until then

Comes out of contract same time as Kelly

Pick 8 for Smith and Haynes sounds about right to me. Smith is out of contract and Essendon only have 11 or 28 and the Dogs Suns and GWS all want 11. Smith wont get to Essendon for 28 surely. Far out, throw in 43 too.

I imagine GWS will be prepared to let one of Tomlinson or Haynes go but not both....

They have Corr and Davis down back and then Himmelberg as a swing-man so they do have capacity to move a tall on and create more cap space and rejuvenate the list from beneath.
