they havent got much else to give back. they dont have a second round pick. they wouldnt give a future first, we wouldnt want a future second. maybe a player. cant think of one we would want though. they have a big gap between players i would want in our team, and players no one wants.SaintPav wrote:According to the TradeWhisperer, we are in discussions with Carlton around swapping our 2 draft picks for pick 3. They will get something for Bryce Gibbs though if that goes ahead.diddley wrote:they havent got much else to give back. they dont have a second round pick. they wouldnt give a future first, we wouldnt want a future second. maybe a player. cant think of one we would want though. they have a big gap between players i would want in our team, and players no one wants.SaintPav wrote:According to the TradeWhisperer, we are in discussions with Carlton around swapping our 2 draft picks for pick 3. Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
Adelaide (Reid) stated they would "respect" the fact Gibbs is contracted and won't be approaching him. Hilarious. They'll be up to their nuts for Gibbs. I'm told the Tomlinson deal is not as dead as GWS would have us believe. Filthy lucre and a juicy pick may still lever him out if we want him badly enough. Personally, I'd keep 7 and 8 now that the real cream is accounted for. A lot of "calf fattening" going on. Motflop looks like jaggging a $600 K a year deal. What a world we live in! A month ago, you would've got him for a GT can of coke and a Mars bar.SaintPav wrote:They will get something for Bryce Gibbs though if that goes ahead.diddley wrote:they havent got much else to give back. they dont have a second round pick. they wouldnt give a future first, we wouldnt want a future second. maybe a player. cant think of one we would want though. they have a big gap between players i would want in our team, and players no one wants.SaintPav wrote:According to the TradeWhisperer, we are in discussions with Carlton around swapping our 2 draft picks for pick 3. "I told you once."
"No, you didn't."
"Yes, I did."
"Listen, an argument isn't just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says, it's a series of statements designed to support a particular conclusion."
"No, it isn't."
"Oh, I've had enough of this."

He finished 16th in their B & F. He isnt even in the top 150 players in the comp.fugazi wrote:GWS have ruled out trading Tomlinson.
Sigh!

That sounds like a terrible trade... would rather us get 2 good players, than 1 star.SaintPav wrote:According to the TradeWhisperer, we are in discussions with Carlton around swapping our 2 draft picks for pick 3. I assume we get something back.
Team of players that play their role > team of star players (Richmond is a prime example)

Except we have loads of good players and no stars. When are people going to stop referring to Trade Whisperer?

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
We have Carlisle
In terms of Riewoldt, we had one who is now retired - and the one Richmond has is his cousin who will be 30 next season
Yes, they have Martin but he is 26 is he not?
We have Steven about the same age, then we have the likes of Acres and others who are in their very early 20's
Plus we have Mc Cartin
And we have 7 and 8 in a few weeks time
As I have put elsewhere, add some leg speed and precision with the ball to our "small" defenders and attackers so some seriously dangerous players not exclusive "shut down" players whose time has passed - and I still have questions on Webster also - and ensure Hickey is fit and ready for 2018, we are on track

Even heard North wanted to give their 1st pick for Jack Steven. No BS.

Fully agree the TW just keeps posting rubbish, year in year out. Posts so many different things that a tiny % come to pass.jonesy wrote:When are people going to stop referring to Trade Whisperer?

Reading his tweets is juts a complete waste of time.
I think because his nick is AFL Trade Whisperer that some assign him credibility based purely based on that.

Nothing new on Haynes deal? Very quite on Saints front.
Outside run, elite skilled midfielders must await Us in the draft.
If Mumford retires, GWS may need to up the stakes for HIckey? It's a risk on our side but may be worthwhile if we can land a player of Haynes or Tomlinson calibre?

I get the feeling that GWS may have sounded out Hickey rather than seeking any kind of deal with St.Kilda. That may have provoked St.Kilda sounding out Haynes and Tomlinson again.

I still don't get McCartin.
What is he actually good at?
Even his under age highlights look average.

Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
Been thinking the same thing. Maybe the club just had stars in their eyes when they had the no. 1 pick, and I think they just expected to easily develop another big forward to cover Roo eventually retiring, but as much as I would like Paddy to do well, there is absolutely nothing to indicate any real strengths apart from the odd strong mark.Con Gorozidis wrote:I still don't get McCartin.

Anyone that can totally towell up Rance, before getting injured, has a lot of potential. Just needs to protect his head better, and is working on it.spert wrote:Been thinking the same thing. Re: Jaxons come on down (2017/18 thread)
This is ridiculous. Paddy would have been taken at no 1 or 2 by every single club in the entire AFL. He was judged by every expert, recruiter and you name it as a no 1 or 2 pick. You can't rewrite history. God some people talk s##t on here.
