Yes there was a certain schadenfreude when Francis asked for a trade.

I like it!!
"...If there has been one recurring theme through this whole shocking mess, it has been the misguided, inflated egos and their ill-judged determination to cling to long-standing old boy friendships. The bad advice that has guided the selfish and culpable James Hird has not only punctuated this saga but symbolised it..."

Too early to call?
Bombers might get something ok for Francis still.

This was even better than last year's "Hawthorn steal". Two potential elites for a can of coke and a mars bar, in effect. Suck a big fat one, Dildoro.

How to turn pick five into a savage loss, by Adrian Dildoro. Out now in all good bookshops and some of the bad ones as well!

No doubt the fraud Dodoro and the other fraud David King will still try to rewrite history. How they remain in a job astounds me.
Still waiting for closure ... if you get my drift.

Has someone explained to King that we effectively got Carlisle AND Gresham for pick 5? Or does that still not register in the 4 neurons he possesses in that nest of vipers he calls a brain?

Perhaps but as it stands now, it’s a bust for them.Con Gorozidis wrote:Too early to call?

and
Francis hasn’t shown too much so they may not get much for him anyway and they’ll be lucky if they do.
Essendon are not in a strong bargaining position and will have to be happy with whatever they can get.

But I thought the Saints were terrible at recruitment, trading and drafting?

We actually gave up both 5 and 24 in the deal. Both first and second round picks to get Carlisle and pick 14, a late first round pick.Drake Huggins wrote:Has someone explained to King that we effectively got Carlisle AND Gresham for pick 5? And to think that the rumour was that we would have taken the Gresh at 5 anyway (possibly supported by the fact that he wears our precious #4), means that Carlisle was effectively a freeby.

Yep. Essendon messed up but they just can't face the truth.
After the fact, but Gresh is worth a pick 5.

Re: Saints were involved in one of the worst trades in histo
You're right Diddley. We traded what ended up pick 29 for a kid from the Chargers called Alex Morgan. Still, the deal was a steal, all things considered. Francis Bird and Morgan have given the dopers nothing. Gresh and Carlisle are potentially elite. A win for us for once over Dildoro and the dopers, no matter which way you look at it. Morgan has had severe hamstring problems and has yet to play a game, and I'm told he could be delisted, Bird was always a dud who was the steak knives and Francis wants out. How sweet it is, Dildoro!diddley wrote:We actually gave up both 5 and 24 in the deal. I reckon he does get it but it doesn't suit his version of the story. Read... I'm wrong.
So he continues on with his "Fractured Fairytales" and therefore loses credibility everytime it comes up. lol
A really crap journo.

They did...Francis was #6. However, our #5 became #6 because of a change in the draft order...can't remember why.Captain Impossible wrote:I thought Essendon used our pick 5 on Darcy Parish?

No - no - no - no - nodegruch wrote:They did...Francis was #6. However, our #5 became #6 because of a change in the draft order...can't remember why.Captain Impossible wrote:I thought Essendon used our pick 5 on Darcy Parish?
Our pick 5 became pick 6 due to draft re-ordering (academy etc) Parish was always going with Essendons first pick (4 became 5) and Francis was the pick that we gave them - pick 6 (after adjustments for inflation - or whatever)
Essendon Pick 4 --> Pick 5 --> Darcy Parish
St Kilda Pick 5 --> Pick 6 --> Aaron Francis
