ST KILDA has extended coach Alan Richardson's contract for a further two seasons, with the deal set to be announced at Friday night's best and fairest.
Richardson was due to come out of contract at the end of next season, but both the coach and the Saints have long been keen to extend their partnership.
It is understood negotiations have been smooth, with detailed talks starting at the end of the Saints' season.

Great.
We'll stagnate at about 10-12 on the ladder for the next few years.
Why not wait to see how the dud performs next year before getting excited?

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Re: News from B& F Oct 6th
Great news. Its definately not the time to be looking elsewhere right now in regards to a senior coach. It is totally pointless and counterproductive.
Richo took over a bottom of the ladder list at the very beginning of a rebuild and has the side on the cusp of finals (only 1 game and some % out of the finals 2 years straight). Not a bad effort.
Next year will be a defining year and he should be given the chance to see it out for the next 2-3 years. If the Saints and Richo have gone backwards by the end of the 2019 season then his role should be seriously looked at. I believe that is fair enough for everyone from Richo himself, to the players, club and fans.

My Mrs is trying to watch it on the app but there's been nothing on, only music. Keep us informed Bratty or others.

Seb is now clearly our best player.
I would not be surprised if he goes close to winning a Brownlow in 2-3 years time from now.

Re: News from B& F Oct 6th
I went along as the winner of the Sponsorship prize - thanks Kosi for taking on the sponsorship management this season.
Was a brilliant night - started with a photo op with Rooey mad Joey and then into the main venue as proceedings kicked off.
Lots of happy and excited Saints people bathed in the Red, White and Black. We were amongst friends (even though I, for some reason, had an Essendon supporter sitting next to me!!).
Highlights were seeing some of the old players there to farewell Roo and Joey. Lots of positive feeling too with Richo's contract extension being announced and ft he talk about moving home to our Moorabbin heartland. Also talk of the return to NZ in the near future - it's going to happen, the Prez said so!
There was acknowledgement from Pres Sumners and Coach Richo that we hadn't quite lived up to expectation this year but they we are in a good position in terms of player development and a strong draft position.
The B&F count with video highlights of each round reminded me of just how much of a Jekyll and Hyde season we had with lost opportunities - some brilliant wins with great team effort and some shocking losses with us too easily being outplayed. Also some reminders of "if only" games - eg.... If only we'd kicked better against Eagles, ...if only we'd stopped Robbie Gray running through the back, etc.
The farewell speeches by both Joey and Rooey were warm, humorous and reflective. Rooey, in particular, spoke brilliantly and was very impressive - he really is a one-in-a-generation player and Jarryn Geary has a hard act to follow in the skipper role.
Seb Ross was a worthy winner of the Trevor Barker Award and gave a slightly beer-enhanced speech which was well received and there was a lot of love for family, partner, the club and teammates.
At the end of the night, both TFD and son trammed home having had a great night amongst our St Kilda family.
I'm really positive about where our club is heading.
Go Saints!!
PS Enrico - I'm also wondering what to do with that little light-up wristband that we got.

Re: News from B& F Oct 6th
Seb stuck it right up those supposed supporters who reckoned he was just a player. Loved it.
Spoke to Jack Seele, a loverly young man.
Got my photo taken with Roo and Joey.
Said hello to Gardiner and Jamie Gwilt
Gawd some of those players are tall.
Lonie looks too young to be drinking bear.
Nicky dal is a media star.
The grog kept coming all night.
The missus and I had a great time.
Loved it.
I picked the top six in best and fairest but got the bottom three in the wrong order.
Surprised to see a very skinny Paddy.
Also surprised to see that he is taller than Bruce.
A couple of the back 6 boys not happy the club is chasing Tomlinson.

2017 Trevor Barker Award Top 10
1. Seb Ross 159 votes
2. Dylan Roberton 124 votes
3. Jarryn Geary 121 votes
4. Jake Carlisle 119 votes
5. Jack Billings 110 votes
6. Jack Steven 108 votes
7. Jimmy Webster 88 votes
8. Jack Newnes 83
9. Jade Gresham 81 votes
10. Nathan Brown 78 votes
Five (or six if you count Jack Newnes) backline players, inlcuding the "talls" but no "talls" on the forward line, although I would have thought that Nick was in our best ten.
