2017 Season

1 Adel Couldn't handle the athleticism of Mitch McGovern.
2 GCS Followed Wright for much of the night and did a fine job to limit his impact in attack. Bounced back well.
3 NM Scrapper’s game in defence. One desperate tackle saved what looked a certain goal.
4 Port Okay down back tracking Westhoff and co. up the field. Didn’t get as much ball as we know he can.
5 Syd Steady game without being a standout.
6 WB Defender did his job without starring. Got into some good spots but not a lot from him on the rebound side.
7 StK Key defender took Riewoldt and had him covered no problems. Along with Davis helped keep Saints at bay for long periods.
8 Coll Dogged defensive effort on the dangerous Ben Reid
9 Rich Shifted to Riewoldt at stages and was handy in back half. Won some key contests in final term.
10 WCE Good effort on Darling. Competed strongly.
11 Ess Had a go on a few Essendon talls and while he tried hard, wasn’t his best outing.
12 Carl Key back worked again a variety of opponents but wasn’t a huge factor. Okay but is a dour type.
13 Bye.
14 Bris Had some success watching over Lester and Hipwood although just 10 disposals.
15 Geel Took variety of opponents and did what he had to. Took some nice marks and used the ball well out of the back half.
16 Haw Thought the Giants could have chewed the clock up when he took a late mark. 14 marks and 24 disposals a lot of the footy.
17 Syd Two first quarter turnovers which cost goals, but did a reasonable job on Sam Reid.
18 Rich Tall defender plugged away all day but issue is he doesn’t win enough ball to hurt the opposition.
19 Frem Not a good day for him, as his 11 disposals went at just 54per cent.
20 Melb Part of a back six that had life made easier for them by the wind and the way Melbourne played.
21 Rested.
22 WCE Wore Darling like a cheap suit and his endurance stood out late when he won some key contests.
23 Geel Hard-nosed backman tried hard but in the end the weight of possessions against was telling.
QF Adel Got on his bike following Lynch to cover lots of ground. The Crow got the better of the matchup.
SF WCE Went to Darling and relegated him to being basically a spectator. Didn’t win much of his own ball though.
PF Rich Showed some dash from the back half but unfortunately his disposal let him down at times.

Inspiring stuff.

Is contracted till the end of 2019 by GWS, and so would cost trade "overs" for us to get him.

Would be a great get if it only cost us Hickey.

Unlikely, but here's to dreaming!

Got a feeling it is a salary dump by gws. Trade may be easier than expected?

Jaxsons is this deal happening instead of Haynes?

I think it is becoming increasingly likely that for us to go any good in 2018, that it will be based on many current players improving plus someone like Freeman coming good.

Let us hope that our new kicking coach can out-perform.

Our new kicking coach would actually get a game in our forward line.

Will be good if we have to play WCE 3 times in a year and we have to cover Darling

Would only do it if hickey and a 3rd rounder completed the deal

Like.
That was most amusing.

Tomlinson is a Jack Watts type. A little bit soft at times and can't play genuine key position. I can't see why we'd be pursuing him

Tomlinson is a good player, but why would we spend big on a 6ft 3 or 4 defender who can play forward?

I'm thinking they think he can play midfield, which is possible, as he may not be needed in their midfield (same as Toby Greene). I haven't seen a lot of him, what do people reckon, could you see him going well as a midfielder?

Hickey and Lonie for Tomlinson
Thats a fair deal.

2017 Draft
Pick 7,8 - 2 Options
1. Rayner or Dow (upgrade to pick 1/2)
2. Stephenson and Bonar

Round 3
Balic

So Rayner, Balic, Tomlinson would be great.

If we spend 7 or 8 on Tomlinson or even spend next year round 2 on hin ILL SPEW UP.

As it should be. Most of our improvement has to come from developing youngsters. Hopefully this years draft/trading will fill some gaps.

Yep, couldn't have said it better. They've executed our game plan perfectly.
