He would get a game in the Saints best 22.

If you could guarantee his effort week in week out he'd be straight in....unfortunately he runs so hot and cold you never know who you're going to get.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Yeah. Maybe he would add something to the Saints if picked up.Teflon wrote:That says a lot...parkeysainter wrote:He would get a game in the Saints best 22.

Yes if I use this one single game as evidence that he always plays consistently well in games that Geelong lose... the op would be correct.

26 touches. 2nd most for Cats. Even better than Danger.
Ran 2.9km at high speed. Best of any player on the ground.

Re: Motlop
I'd take Motlop for the right deal!!!!!
Guys, agree to disagree and move on before you both get in strife, not having a go, just a word to the wise from someone who knows!!!!!

I agree, Stoney. Take him for the right price in a heartbeat. Some corkheads can't see the obvious!

Re: Motlop
My issue with him is that his decision making under pressure can be suss - we have a lot of players that are amazing by foot and often hit their opponents right on the chest.parkeysainter wrote:26 touches. 2nd most for Cats. Even better than Danger.

If tonight's game teaches us anything, it's skill and composure that wins you games

Re: Motlop
At his best he's a matchwinner, something we lack. Inconsistent though, but was good tonight in a pressure final so may be maturing.

He is a RFA now. With the players Geelong are looking to bring in....he would be quite gettable I would think.GregPackhamsHeadband wrote:I agree, Stoney. Take him for the right price in a heartbeat. Some corkheads can't see the obvious!

Re: Motlop
I've got a feeling he was very good throughout the finals series - a commentator commented during the match last week that he had clocked up some very good running stats the week before that but hadn't been rewarded for his efforts - the last 2 games I'm pretty sure his running and possessions stats were goodskeptic wrote:Yes if I use this one single game as evidence that he always plays consistently well in games that Geelong lose... the op would be correct.

18 disposals. 6 tackles. 1 goal.
And they got thrashed.
So he has been in their top 5 players in both finals losses which were heavy defeats.
MAny Geelong players were found wanting. He wasnt one of them.

Re: Motlop
So he had an ok finals series as wasn't one their worst.
That doesn't mean he'll right for us.

Re: Motlop
No but if we get him for free and he is motivated then he'd be a good get. That is the whole point of free agency.SaintPav wrote:So he had an ok finals series as wasn't one their worst.

It is supposed to be a leg up for teams like ours.

Re: Motlop
My issue is that he is more cold than hot
and I doubt he'd bring anything valuable.
I would rather a younger more talented player who will
have more chance of getting better, rather than Motlop
who has more downside than upside

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn
Re: Motlop
yes @MickThomas but a young talented player wont be a FREE agent. Motlop we may be able to get for zip. He would add an X factor to the Saints something we sadly lack.

You might be correct but I just object to him being called a downhill skier. If anything - he coasts when they are winning.

Re: Motlop
Can't believe the bagging of Motlop, would walk into our side.
We have a side lacking X factor, pace and skills he addresses these three things and we would not have to trade for him.
Seems like a no brainer to me get him is a free agent it would be nothing other than a bonus.
