Geeez that Tom Lynch goes alright!
Think he'd come to us?
Nah, pbly not worth playing him 2 games or more back to back. But our selectors in that period we're rubbish

Lynch's foot skills alone are better than our forward kine combined. They said Crows have not had a top 10 draft pick in last 12 years and here they are on the verge of another GF appearance. Our recruiters have been substandard for years now.

He is a star. Local kid who grew up supporting St Kilda.
Ross Lyon has a lot to answer for but media are scared of him so won't ask him tough questions.
Lucky he left when he did as Jack Steven also had one foot out the door before Ross took the money.

Apart from his dead-eye kicking he has gained the most metres with his hard running and long accurate kicks.
But of coure there was no room for him at our club.

They also recruited Stanley, McQualter, Spencer White, Josh Saunders, Brodie Murdoch, Markworth, Cripps, Crocker, Ledger, Winmar, Heyne and many forgettable players from other clubs. They had to get the odd one right and that was one they let go.skeptic wrote:Our recruiters recruited himSuperSaint wrote:Lynch's foot skills alone are better than our forward kine combined. Re: Geeez that Tom Lynch goes alright!
The much maligned John Peake recruited him on the recommendation of buckets and Buckley. Ros Lyon failed to see his potential. Funny how John Peake is perceived as a dud. Did pretty well given our shithouse draft positions in his tenure. Back working his magic at Geelomg, who are again playing in a prelim final while we wallow in 11th. Brilliant.skeptic wrote:Our recruiters recruited himSuperSaint wrote:Lynch's foot skills alone are better than our forward kine combined. How is Stanley playing in a top 4 side?
Think the Cats might purge their list a bit.

In that period of time, we also got Armitage, Steven, McEvoy, Ross, Newnes , Allan, and WebsterSuperSaint wrote:They also recruited Stanley, McQualter, Spencer White, Josh Saunders, Brodie Murdoch, Markworth, Cripps, Crocker, Ledger, Winmar, Heyne and many forgettable players from other clubs. My point is that our development of players over that time period was deplorable and I'm more of the opinion that it was the master coaches inability to develop younger players rather than our recruiters so consistently getting it wrong that was the issue.

Think you're right. Not many surprises in recruiting now. It's all in the development.

And the Crows have about $6 million more per year to spend on development than we do.Darth Vader wrote:Think you're right. Not many surprises in recruiting now. It's all in the development.

His tenure was from the 07 draft to the 010 draft.GregPackhamsHeadband wrote:The much maligned John Peake recruited him on the recommendation of buckets and Buckley. During that time the Saints traded out of every draft except the 010 draft where we kept our picks.
He had one top ten pick. Which we used on McEvoy. Many on here claim that was a failure. He is a dual premiership ruckmen and will play 200 games.
He had one pick between 10 to 20. Lynch pick 13. He was slammed for that. Should of taken whoever the good players where after that pick. Lynch could become a premiership player and should play close to 200 games.
One pick inside 20 to 30. Cripps And one pick between 30 to 40. Winmar.
He had two picks between 40 to 50.
Steven (Triple B&F) and Stanley.
We also took Hutchings as a rookie who lasted one year.
That's what happened during his tenure.
Yes there were failures.
Winmar (30), Heyne (48), Ledger (Late in the draft) etc.

Re: Geeez that Tom Lynch goes alright!
I think that Brad Crouch is an * here. He was picked up in a special 2011 GWS mini draft that went to Adelaide for Phil Davis. So he could be considered a top 10 pick.skeptic wrote:Our recruiters recruited himSuperSaint wrote:Lynch's foot skills alone are better than our forward kine combined. Nonetheless - they have been very good with their recruitment.

That is a huge difference.
Certainly telling.
