A footy wise Director of coaching, together with some very good new assistant coaches and some excellent end of season trading. A great off season for the Tigers.

Don't get ahead of yourself.
Misery awaits the Tigers in the Prelim.

I've learnt that what seemed like an obscene deal is now close to unders for buddy only a few years later.

When you get a chance to take a top 10 player of the comp, you get it done.

Similar to Carlisle. At $500 K per year for five, he's looking like an absolute bargain now.

no I'd like to learn more than that from Sydney , they are going to win the flag......Is longmire a brilliant coach ? how does he get his champion players to play the way they do ? I would like the Saints to be just like them.

If we can draft well in the next 1-2 years we are not far away from where Richmond are now.

Go Saints!!
The main think I have learnt from Richmond is if you are s*** for long enough the Draft will ensure that you come good. Melbourne are another prime example of this. This is why we should take picks 7 and 8 to the Draft. In 2001 we got Nicky Dal at pick 13. Lets back our recruiting team in and let them use 7 and 8 at the Draft.

Have Richmond had that many good draft picks? They were 9th a lot.

Martin, Prestia and Cotchin are the only top ten picks on their list?

Ladies and gentlemen, we have the clubhouse leader for the post of the year. Should we adopt this as our official war cry before each game? Absolute gold and sums up all the aspects of the St.Kilda experience. Who knew The Bard followed the saints? :D

Yep, 6 stickies is not nearly enough.

Kevin Bartlett talking about how we can help Geelong get through to make an all victorian grand final… good to see the tigers are already thinking about the grand final, they are destined to lose next week.

I'm with Firey...screw the Tiges, the Bloods have done it tough this year and are looking pretty tasty right now. Maybe Colless was right to take aim at us for having no ticker (although he was wrong in regard to Lyon), because they certainly have it over there, and sadly we have lacked it this season in particular.

Agree to disagree. The Tiger Army may be getting ahead of themselves, but the coach and playing group are focussed. Go Tigers! GO!

Bump.
Yes they kick well but dont tell me pace isnt important.
Tigers have pace to burn.

Playing off in both AFL and VFL grand Finals. So they are doing a lot right. This cant be a fluke.

Well if you look at their Football Department in totality they had massive change with Balme and new assistants all in.

So hold your nerve? No they did not. They faced up to making necessary and required changes and had a massive shake-up. You make required changes and do not accept an under-performing Football Department.

It is "pleasing"to me to see that Playfair is already one new experienced assisant coach. I am hoping for more.

Agree. They had a full review. They beefed up their coaching staff. They changed footy mgr. They made huge changes.
They didnt just sit there doing nothing and keeping everything the same and being content.
The coach won 15 games in his 3rd season so he clearly had already shown himself to be competent.
They then bring Back Leppa and add McRae and Caracella.
Their fitness and conditioning staff must also be doing a lot right. They are fit and strong.

Oh FFS, I am gutted that bog average sides are getting around playing in grand finals, instead of when we were peaking and the top 4 or so sides were flush with A graders.

I remember going to the 2007 GF where Geelong obliterated an absolutely bog average Port Adelaide... that's about the level of the tigers this year and the dogs last year, just perfect timing to be challenging.

I've said it before but let's not blueprint off these one hit wonder sides... odds are Richmond miss the finals next year regardless of what happens next week.

Broad, butler, Townsend, Ellis, vlaustin, graham, macintosh, Castagna, lambert, grimes, astbury... get f***ed.

has to be the real difference to the Tigers this year, coaches who know what they are doing.

The Saints are under review, will it make any difference to the underachievers ?

Too many Saint supporters are happy to be passive thinkers rather than seeing the problems and being pro active in changing. Too many criticise the posters that question and label those as disloyal and ignorant. Too many want to fill the Club with ex St Kilda players as coaches and assistants in an effort to make us a weak feeble incestuous bunch of losers. Too many want to hang on to our list cloggers and see nothing in utilizing the talents from other Clubs that can be prised out because of salary cap pressures.

The Tigers went out and got what they wanted and have used their players to develop a solid unit even though they are far from perfect they have used their available talent as effectively as possible.

The tigers have been successful this year because they've got the best player in the comp .
Rock solid A graders in rance down back , crotchin in the middle and Riewoldt up forward. The lesser lights are playing with confidence and they've been able to keep their best team on the park .
I don't think the saints can really learn anything from them as we have no A graders.
Hopefully next year some of our players can become that. Billings may be our best hope as many of our B graders have poor foot skills.
Until we have 3 or 4 A graders we won't seriously challenge for a flag.
