Who will explode in 2018
Barring unforeseen injuries or circumstances, I'm tipping the following young fellas will explode in 2018 in a big way:
Membrey, Acres, White, Gresham, Billings, Dunstan, Steele, Sinclar (no particular order). If only 3 or 4 of them have a breakout season like Seb Ross this year then the side will improve on a massive scale.
I have a sneaky but more hopeful feeling that Long, Freeman, Goddard and Paddy will follow suit in a much smaller capacity but will ramp it up in 2019. Battle and Rice might take until 2020.
Time for the kids to take the next step.

Re: Who will explode in 2018
I don't feel confident about any of those going up a gear next year.
Steele might get stronger in the gym over the pre-season, as he is in the ideal age to bulk up; but I don't see him exploding.
The rest could improve slightly, only if the club snags not one but two big fish.
One will make a difference.
Two biggies can have a massive impact because it will affect the whole team and the game plan can be followed much better
when 2 players are highly skilled- it has a flow-on effect.
One star will help, but the other 21 guys skill levels will suck the life out of him.

2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

The Irish kid. Interesting. I find them to be natural footballers. Even more than some of the kids from suburban Melbourne that have been playing since Auskick.tony74 wrote:Connellan

As ex-president Peter Summers said:

St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.

Re: Who will explode in 2018
Would love to see Ray Connellan rebounding on the switch off half back and running wide through the clearances. The kid has some toe. Also seems capable of and committed to beating his opponent. With Roberton reaching AA status and Carlisle consistently pulling down intercept marks, Ray could provide the gun powder we need to canon off half back. This could also take some pressure off Steven.
To be honest, if White, Connellan and Freeman come on and show some effective disposal it seems Newnes, Gilbert, Weller and Geary will be counting on experience to keep there spots and Jimmy Webster will have to be very consistent.
