and worrying will help, how?
2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

You probably won't worry as you called him s***, like you did Ross, Dunstan, Gilbert, Long and pretty much every player on the list.MickThomas wrote:and worrying will help, how?
If we lose one of only 2 players we have in the AA squad it would be a disaster.

I'm not worried. Apparently Ameet Bains is a tactical genius. Our meteroic rise up the ladder and
team stocked with medal-winning superstars proves it.

Re: Dylan Roberton
Manager hoping All Aussie selection would boost his price so stalling? Seems pretty solid with the program, but. Wasn't worried till you mentioned it. Worse case: you would want something special in return.

Also we need to re-sign Savage. He has been good in the last half of the year.

Serious trade bait, I'm told. His form in the second half of the season pleased the club enormously. His value soared. Roberton must be signed, but I never doubt the Hawks ability to get a deal done. They've offered him plenty. I hope we keep him, but he must be tempted.longtimesaint wrote:Also we need to re-sign Savage. He has been good in the last half of the year.

We don't have anybody to fill his shoes at the Saints- we cannot afford to lose this talent.GregPackhamsHeadband wrote:Serious trade bait, I'm told. Looking back. Great recruiting whoever spotted Roberton when Freo let him go. Pretty sure we got him as an undrafted free agent at a young age.

Yep, Freo delisted him after he requested a trade. We got him as a delisted free-agent.parkeysainter wrote:Looking back. Great recruiting whoever spotted Roberton when Freo let him go. Pretty sure we got him as an undrafted free agent at a young age.
What an absolute bargain he turned out to be. Now he is an integral part of our defence and we'll look stupid if we can't retain him.

Re: Dylan Roberton
A source from the Hawks. They have offered him 700k per year x3, which is way above what we've offered. I'd say that's what's causing the delay. He must be tempted by an offer like that. A young dad with three kids has a chance to set himself and his family up for life. The longer it goes, the more it starts to worry me. It is a very tempting offer. He might never get the chance again.

Hawks are moving to Dingley, which if I remember from my 34 years living in Melbourne, would be closer for Robbo than Moorabbin.GregPackhamsHeadband wrote:A source from the Hawks. I would not hold it against him if he went for the money, because after all, a player has a limited tenure in the game.
He would certainly need to run it past his family, because quality of life...it costs several hundred thousand $$$ per child from birth to age 18.
I hope he stays, I really do, but if he follows the $$ then so be it.

Re: Dylan Roberton
Oh, this is not good news, if true. Sounds quite plausible to me. Can't help to feel that he'd have his sights set on donning the Poos&Wees Brigade now. What a bloody shame that would beGregPackhamsHeadband wrote:A source from the Hawks. They have offered him 700k per year x3, which is way above what we've offered.
