Just looking at the teams results and where the opposition finished:

GWS, Richmond and WC are the only teams that we beat that finished above us

We didn't lose to a team that finished below us which is a big positive.

In theory due to the structure of the draw we finished exactly where we should have. The middle bracket of teams we played twice ( Melbourne, Richmond, WC,) we went 2-4. We also played Sydney, and North twice (2-2) .

Basically we beat who we were suppose to but weren't able to beat the teams we needed to push past.

Danger is now we fall into the Richmond, North, and others of the past decade finishing in the 9-12 bracket and treading water.

From a list perspective we have 2 players make the AA top 40. We probably have 4-5 others who have ability to make such a list in the future ( Carlisle, Billings, Steven, Membrey, Gresham) . From there we have a lot of good foot soldiers , which teams need, but too many to compete with the next level of teams.

We need A Grade Talent and to do that we must trade picks and/or players who many like what they bring to the table and will be good AFL players (Webster, Newness, Hickey) for quality in return.
