And a saints' supporter to boot. We lost one of ours today. He and Sandy both passionate sainters.

Re: RIP Drew
On ABC radio today they said that one of the truly unique attributes of Drew is that unlike almost everyone else associated with footy he had absolutely no allegiance to any team.
He didn't grow up in Victoria so wound up following the code not a team.
He did have favourite players like Daisy and Daics.

Re: RIP Drew
I think it was a massive Hotel Alpha. Dropped dead on the spot while watching the Hawks v WB game on the telly. It was reported his missus was present at the time. If it was a suicide, the usual advice of seeking help would've been added to the end of the articles reporting his death. That is the not so subtle way of letting you know it was suicide along with the old, "There were no suspicious circumstances."Winmar7 wrote:does anyone know what happened? no details about how he died, which always makes me think suicide...

Very sad. I've seen him at the race track a few times. Even nodded a greeting at Sandown on the previous Wednesday. He looked quite healthy.

How disgraceful to make this comment. "Details?" Are you next of kin?Winmar7 wrote:does anyone know what happened? no details about how he died, which always makes me think suicide...
They don't need to disclose if they don't wish to do so.
2020 was an aberration, when we travelled twice to Adelaide and won both, beat Tigers early, beat our bogey Swans. 2021 we've returned to our old ways. Damn

Who was the person from the ABC who said he had no allegiance to anyone, EM? Mustn't have known him very well, whoever it was.Enrico_Misso wrote:On ABC radio today they said that one of the truly unique attributes of Drew is that unlike almost everyone else associated with footy he had absolutely no allegiance to any team.

Get a grip. The poster was asking a question. As there was no lifeline tag or no suspicious circumstances it probably means heart attack. That's the response required not teeing off.MickThomas wrote:How disgraceful to make this comment. "Details?" Anyway, it's a timely reminder to have regular checkups with the doc, especially keep an eye on your blood pressure as you get older.

That would be right, EM. The bloke is rarely sober or present in this dimension. He's there for comic relief only. And not the good kind. Drew was a sainter, I can assure you. Give his great mate Sandles a call. He'll confirm.

Re: RIP Drew
Drew was definitely a Saints man. Worked with my son who got to know him - got his confession. He was always a Saints man. Just didn't yell it from the rooftops. He was an emotional wreck like all of us after 09, 10.
I want to stand for something. I'm a loyal person and I think at the end of my career it will be great to look back and know that I'm a St Kilda person for life.

Re: RIP Drew
Vale Drew, a much better commentator than most today. If he was a Saints man it would've been hard to tell because we were so rarely on the Winners back in the day.
