Good luck to Mav anyway. He made it in the AFL through hard work and dedication and could afford to buy a 1.2 mil house in Moorabbin. Plus he has a hot missus. They must be the crimes of the century these days it seems.

Like anything...if the AFL wage market demands a player gets 500k or 1mil a season then so be it. If the same system and market demands Mav gets 200 or 300k or whatever a season then so be it. Considering AFL is the 5th most attended league in the entire world our players don't get paid that much really in comparison to other sports.

Interesting that Moorabbin town houses have baths, very spacious. Anyway, generally it seems a disadvantage to play one short (# not height) but possibly worse to have a warm body on the field as a net negative contributor particularly if poor kicks, poor handballs and ineffective tackles interspersed with shepherding your teammates, no matter how enthusiastically, opens up the corridor and puts the well drilled defence out of position. From what I've seen kicking behind scores also gifts the opposition possession. Cannot question his commitment but perhaps he is just being put in a situation he cannot handle. In the desert that is our season he may be the mirage (segue with the myth thingy).

Neither Weller or Steven are anywhere near champions!

Agree on Mav, but I Think Jack Steven and his multiple Trevor Barker medals might get him somewhere closer to "champion" status.

Plus I'd say Jack's one of the few players at the saints that could get a game at just about any other club. (when not playing injured!)

See I genuinely believe this based on what I think is a way down year compared to last...

So my question is, what are they gaining by playing an injured underperforming player?

From where I sit, the only thing we've achieved by persevering with Mav this season is that we have successfully and comprehensively destroyed his reputation.
