This man (or woman) gets it. Harden the f*** up princess !!!

When the day comes that we hold up our second cup, supporters like you will enjoy, but not deserve, the euphoria it brings. Why won't you deserve it? Because when we were struggling through for various reasons during our rebuild and doing it tough, you were on here covered in sackcloth and ashes, wailing and moaning "woe is me, my footy team lost some games", throwing a pseudo-intellectual tanty like a toddler in a supermarket......
You seriously would feel 'euphoria' at the achievements of 22 strangers?
Have you ever watched a GF, Johnny? People tend to share in the euphoria.

People also voted for Trump.

Doesn't make it right.

?

Do you think it's tough and brave not to question mismangement at a multi-million dollar organisation?

You're such a trooper.

I think your commentary on Sunday was childish and I was amused that you ran to your keyboard after 30 minutes of a game. You have insisted ever since that you are not emotional about the teams performance and I truly believe that you truly believe that.

Why don't you read the post?

That's all you need to do. Read it, and you'll realise that you were wrong. Just accept that you got it wrong, and move on.

Very interesting post on twitter this morning. The Saints have kicked more behinds than goals on 13 occasions this season, more than any other team.

If we had of kicked straight, there's every chance we wouldn't be 11th on the ladder and in fact much higher up. So while people vent and rant and melt about us not progressing, I think we are, we just need to put it on the scoreboard.

Bring on 2018 if you ask me.

Anyone know who Adelaide's forward line coach is? Think we need 2 new assistant coaches and everyone on the list put on notice. Adding some real class to the team over the off season will help a lot. B.White looks like he's going to be quite a player for the club.

Great point, we've had an unreasonably terrible time in front of goals this year. Several games we could have iced, or built on momentum but due to misses we ended up (probably) losing.

Someone has to take fault for that, as it's so bad that it's unlikely to be a statistical anomaly, but if we can improve that next year and build out our depth, we will be a very good side. That's even disregarding changes in tactics to minimise sides scoring off rebound so easily.

I don't find it interesting.

It's blatantly obvious. They're devoid of the skill, and the mental toughness required to deliver the goods.

No surprise at all.

If you think it's just a little blip on the radar that will sort itself though, I think you're wrong. And if the club believes that, which I think they do - they're delusional.

It's like training a weight lifter for 4 years then sending him out on stage to perform Swan Lake in a tutu. And then scratching your head as why he's no good at the pirouette.

You recruit unskilled players with mental weakness, then recruit a 'nice' coach that tells them constantly to be 'strong' and 'solid' and that 'pressure' is all that matters and that skill is secondary - then we wonder why they can't kick goals or hit targets??

Seriously.

We said the exact same thing last year ( and in 09).
Poor kicking is poor footy.
We play a scramble style of footy that leads to points.

I really couldn't get enthusiastic about this year right from the start. I did have high hopes after last season, but for some reason, just couldn't see us achieving this year. Part of my lack of enthusiasm was the knowledge that a made for TV side the GWS Giants were being gifted a premiership and it became what's the point of following my team when the comp is so geared in favour of where the AFL wants to grow their audience.
Also, as I am turning 60 later this year, the realisation that it is highly probable I will never see a 2nd premiership. I mean, I have followed this team since we arrived here in 1965 and I have seen teams that didn't even exist 40 years ago win more premierships than us. To be honest those two losses in 09 and 10 have taken a fair bit out of me.
Plus I look at our team and we are just bland. We are not exciting to watch, we don't score enough and our game plan is ineffective against good teams. We have no real match winners in the side and to be honest, unless there is some major recruiting or changes done before next March, it will be simply be more of the same where we might just scrap into the finals in order to make up the numbers for the first week.
I would like to be wrong.

Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Yeah I wonder why?

I'll give you a clue.....Nick Reiwoldt.

Take his stats out and we drop to nearly 10th last year.

Probably not a bad result for playing one player short.

The team is facing post-Reiwoldt issues, there's no doubt about that.

The coach had chance to address it somewhat this year too, but failed to do so.

I have several sporing interests running concurrently. Apart from the EPL and the AFL, the others are very entertaining at the moment!

Johnny wants to be seen as a cerebral supporter rather than an emotional one.
He rightly questions why people become so attached to the outcome of a game played by 22 strangers, however, is not quite cerebral enough to ignore the whole AFL or in fact team sport thing...which seems the natural extension of his purported position.
The idea of following a club , it's colours, it's song....is that it stirs a pretty tribal side of us. A vestigial tribalism which triggers us at a much more base level than the one Johnny imagines he occupies. He likes to pour scorn on supporters for caring so.much while denying his own emotional attachment to the outcomes.
It's a bit like the person saying he reads Penthouse for the articles or watches pornography for the storyline....doesnt quite ring true.

Why would I ignore the AFL?

I really enjoy the footy. I enjoy all posts really, and follow quite a few very closely.

If you don't think it's possible to enjoy sport without being a rbaid tribal lunatic that beats his missus when his team loses, you're very close minded.

Honestly, what do you think when you see grown men on the TV at the footy in their colours, going nuts like madmen?

Seriously, I find it utterly embarrassing.

I concur, I find it so hideously vile to see such heathens go about their barbaric ways, you know, we would be better off banishing this filth from all games so that we sophisticated folk can observe the games unperturbed and can enjoy the jean es se qua of the competition
