Votes v Dees
4. Carlisle
4. Roberton
These two guys read the play very well - excellent intercept marking
3. Steele
2. Dunstan
Very good inside mids.
1. Sinclair. Great user again. Would like to see him get it more, but still worth a vote
1. Longer . More than held his own against strong opponent.
No votes from me for Billings. Got a lot of it, but his missed goals are so deflating.

Re: Votes v Dees
one vote to each of Dunstan and Steele.
2 votes to Jakey and Robbo.
The rest are hopeless, including Seb who gets the ball but gives it to a demon.

Re: Votes v Dees
5. Longer - more than held the best ruck in the game
4. Carlisle - absolute rock in defence especially in the 3rd term
3. Roberton - should be a shoe in for All-Australian, but will be robbed
2. Dunstan worked hard and carried both his and Stevens load, but faded later in the game
1. Membery - only forward that looked likely
Honourable mentions
White - one of the few who could be proud of their 1st halves, looks super composed
Bruce's mark - a ripper

Re: Votes v Dees
What the hell did Billings do wrong today that no-one has considered him in the votes - 14 kicks, 16 handballs, 9 marks - all with one eye - strength and courage personified.

Re: Votes v Dees
And why all the love for Dunstan. He was shocking early. Could only find Melbourne players. He was not Robinson Crusoe, but had shocking turn overs early. Pleased that he got into the game later, but no votes from me.

Re: Votes v Dees
Billings was poor. At least three contests near where i was watching where he went at half pace and Melbourne got the ball instead. He was flat as a tac. Dished the ball of instead of take responsibility and he was wasteful, especially in front of goal.

Individuals are a moot point this week. We were thoroughly, comprehensively dismantled and smashed in the first half.

Re: Votes v Dees
SainterDad. I am very appreciative of your work in tabulating the votes each week. I really enjoy trying to work out who are our best players . I scribble notes at the end of each quarter.Sainter_Dad wrote:What the hell did Billings do wrong today that no-one has considered him in the votes - 14 kicks, 16 handballs, 9 marks - all with one eye - strength and courage personified.
As to Billings, I refer you to my original post on this thread. Early on I had Billings as our best. However he had 5 shots for one goal. Yes he got the ball, but his kicking for goal is so wasteful. It really is deflating . So that is my answer to your question- an answer which I preempted in my initial votes.
You have a different opinion - no worries.

re Gilbert I thought that he insitgated our turnaround at the end of the second quarter. He attacked, tried to break lines and got to so many contests. He continued that through the second half

Cheese board whilst just laying there the whole game ,did keep the condiments apart , so deserved the 1 vote.
