Mr Magic wrote:oh, and maybe ask Richmond why Rance rarely plays on the oppositions most dangerous tall forward/
Coaches put a value on 'intercepting' and 'creating' and very often don't match their best defender against the opposition's best forward.
Same goes for midfielders - often a tagger is sent to negate a prolific ball-winner rather than your own prolific ball-winner.
BINGO!!!!!
Intercept Marking is invaluable to modern day footy structures and coaches, the old days of dragging your most creative defender out of the play or GONE!!!!!
Hence the likes of Lever, McGovern, Rance, Carlisle etc, way to damaging to have them lock down a key forward!!!!!
'Cause StoneCold Said So'!!!!! We will be great again once Billy is back playing!!!!!

IMHO we saw a deficiency on our list for an 'A-grade' CHB and went out and bought one in Carlisle.
You obviously have a differing opinion on what he is and where he should be played.
this is getting tiresome
I have said it now several times
Darling is a stay at home forward good for pack marks
Kennedy is a true CHF kicking the majority of his goals from 40+
bye for now

I have never seen Kennedy play CHF and he plays as a full forward every match.

kicked four goals from the 50 arc
1 within 25mt
'
OK, I concede.
you're correct - Carlisle is an overpaid dud and the coaching panel know it so they don't play him on anybody good.
And everyone with any footy knowledge knows that Plugger was actually playing CHF when he was slotting goals through from 50.

Fascinating, he did not kick any goals from out of range.
Everyone of those goals was kicked from within range of goals.
Same applied to the best full forward ever Tony Lockett.
Full forwards lead up the ground but rarely venture beyond range of goal unless covering their opponent.
Goal kicking is their gig.
They rarely provide entries inside 50.
Centre half forwards travel much further up the field but can also take marks in the goal square.
Goal kicking and providing entries inside 50s is their gig.
The more you know, the more you know you don't know.

Now that I am old and know so much more, I know that I know so much about so little, and so little about so much.

Careful ace MM reckons Lockett played chf
Darling and Kennedy only had 2 & 1 inside 50s respectively so neither play a high roving chf role
Marks inside 50 and score involvement were also similar for both
Weagles obviously set up differently with their forward 50 entries so this is the crux of the matter
Forget about where they set up for each play it matters little, It.s where they kick the goals from, darlings were all close and Kennedy's were from the 50 arc
And given he was the most damaging forward of the day, yes I thought strange
