Team v Mebounre
If roo is ok do we make any changes from last week?
Weller probably under the most pressure and my guess is playing hurt at the moment. Options - Lonnie, Long, - sticking with the like for like therory
If Roo doesn't come up then which way do we go considering looks like it will be wet saturday and perhaps a little sunday am and windy? Do we look at above options , a medium utility like Gilbert or a tall replacement like Marshall to also ruck?

Re: Team v Mebounre
Long is suspended so not available.
Being a Sunday match they will select a squad so would imagine no outs at this stage.
Possible ins are Gilbo, Lonie, Marshall with the team to be trimmed Friday 5 p.m.

Re: Team v Mebounre
I'm interested to see if we roll the dice on Hickey.
Despite probably Billy's best game of the year, Hickey's performance in the VFL combined with him having the wood on Gawn in the past few outings against the dees should get the selectors thinking.

Gawn was BOG in the first round game this year, absolutely slaughtered Hickey.Otiman wrote:I'm interested to see if we roll the dice on Hickey.

Re: Team v Mebounre
Billy should give Max a wee bit more to think about this time round! Spot on though, Gawn was awesome against us in that second half at the dome in round one. I hope we've learned from the experience!scallopsroe wrote:Gawn was BOG in the first round game this year, absolutely slaughtered Hickey.Otiman wrote:I'm interested to see if we roll the dice on Hickey.

In: Gilbo
Out: Roo with concussion
Pretty clear to me. Even without the head knock IMO Roo needed to be rested. He's totally cooked and playing for time now sadly.

Re: Team v Mebounre
Roo ruled out with concussion so four into the squad.
Probably Gilbert, Lonnie, Marshall and Dmac.

Re: Team v Mebounre
I would hope Gilbo, Marshall, DMack, not Lonie please, and hope that Mav might be rested.
Don't think DMack has shown much composure.
But whatever the club does, is fine by me, they live and breathe the Saints
day-to-day and would know who can carry out certain roles.
except for Lonie. 37 touches in VFL doesn't prove much, he did have several senior games where he got
fewer than 8 touches (one of them had 4 clangers as well)

I had thought Paddy won't play again this year, suss wrote:Paddy any chance? Not sure where he's at recovery wise but would be nice to see him this year.
didn't they advise he was just doing a lot of skills and fitness stuff,
and when match simulation was about to start, off he goes to run laps or do gym work.
If he can't yet do any contact, when will he get into Zebs again?

Just do Marshall for Roo. We will get carved up in the middle like last time if it becomes Bruce or Gilbo vs Gawn in the ruck.

I've watched the recording a couple of times and he was pretty good in the last quarter when the game had to be won and saved.Milne wrote:tony74 said they were happy with the work Mav was doing behind the scenes e.g. blocking.chook23 wrote:Weller is so lucky to stay in team.....a reflection of the lack of depth

Re: Team v Mebounre
Surely we can't run with both Hickey & Longer. Regardless of how good Gawn is, we can't expect either of them to help "hold up team structure" by being the other tall forward with Riewoldt out.
Would be a nightmare.
Hope Lonie doesn't come in either.

Re: Team v Mebounre
Mav is bullet proof and the selectors must think either Battle or Marshall too big a risk. The selectors are wrong. IMHO which thankfully is often wrong. Its hard to keep winning tight games with 21 players but. I still have the image of Mav handballing straight to Hurn, couldn't he just have fumbled as usual.

Gilbo back in, is a relief.chook23 wrote:Weller is so lucky to stay in team.....a reflection of the lack of depth
Worth 2 players at the contest, because of his second efforts. (Yes, me, praising Gilbo, is like Kim Jong-Un inviting Trump over for a BBQ)
Mav can't be replaced by anyone currently at the Zebs. Wright and Minch both injured, they're the 2 who might have displaced him.
