Eade, as a senior assistant?
I've just heard that Gold Coast have given Rocket Eade the arse. Would he be worth a punt as a senior assistant at the Saints?

I just read this also -
i would prefer him as an assistant rather than coach.
Yes i would take him.

Re: Eade, as a senior assistant?
I've heard that Eade is a very astute student of the game, but possibly this isn't matched with all the other requirements of a successful senior coach. I think having someone like Rocket in the box with Richo, as a mentor/ 1st lieutenant could give us a real chance to move forward.dals_da_bomb wrote:I just read this also -

Re: Eade, as a senior assistant?
No way.
Eade is a control freak.
Richo has been senior assistant at two clubs (Carlton and Port) - he doesn't need an ex-coach around him.
He needs more IP from other clubs. We don't have any assistants with IP from anywhere else in the past 5 years.

Fair comment colleague. Perhaps I'm being a wee bit simplistic in thinking it would be "win-win" for all parties? I know he held down a role at Colondud as an assistant.

Sorry, industry jargon for me!
IP = intellectual property.
Fair call about the Pies, I'd forgotten that he was an assistant to Bucks.
My comment was based on reports I'd heard when he was at the Dogs...

More relevant is that GC play Essendope in two weeks at Metricon.
Come on GC, do it for the comp and Rocketman!
I wouldn't bother with Eade, he's done nothing for GC.

There's NO way I'd contemplate Eadeas senior coach. BUT.....as a knowledgable senior assistant? Hmmmmmm?saintspremiers wrote:More relevant is that GC play Essendope in two weeks at Metricon.

Sounds like he should team up with Watters and form a coaching consultancy called "control freak inc"

Re: Eade, as a senior assistant?
If you look at what Eade has achieved, it is actually not very impressive:
In fact, he only won 16/63 games (25.3%) at the GCS. Can he help us at all with that record? He is one of only two coaches in VFL/AFL history to have coached more than 300 games and have a success rate of less than 50 per cent (377 games, 185 wins, 187 losses, five draws, 49 per cent)

But if we combine that with AR..shrodes wrote:If you look at what Eade has achieved, it is actually not very impressive:

W 32+ 185 = 217
L 52 + 187 = 239
D 1 + 5 = 6
total games 85 + 377 = 462
47.6%
alrighty still havent hit 50% .
Ive worked with a few control freaks - its not so bad if they are a perfectionist.. but pretty bad when they are not!

This is because we need young coaches from successful environments who can bring us fresh ideas and enthusiasmtony74 wrote:We want Dew. Unfortunately so do many others.

Pass on Eade.

Re: Eade, as a senior assistant?
Eade may have been tactically very good in the past, but it's a younger guys game now. He wants to be the number one man - the Coach, as can be seen from his move from the Pies to Gold Coast.
Joey will go to the media. In my view he would need outside experience in the coaching caper.

Re: Eade, as a senior assistant?
Yes, Eade officially gone. Perhaps they'll drag Malthouse out retirement. The Gold Coast Lemons are club run by numpty dumpties.
But I can't see Eade ever setting foot at Moorabbin.

I keep saying it...dump Richo get Dew. Let him run with the boys. Get some top class assistants (most are senior coaches in the waiting so $$ and finals could lure them).

Re: Eade, as a senior assistant?
Sounds like a plan! I/E dump the bloke who's got us on the improvement track. Install an untried assistant coach, based on him being " flavour of the month " among the media types!David-Lee wrote:I keep saying it...dump Richo get Dew. Let him run with the boys. REALLY?
A wee bit like sacking Stan Alves in '98, for totally untried ex player! There again, if the plan is to get us even more number one draft picks ( via wooden spoons ) then go for your life champ!
