Shane Savage
I think Shane Savage has done enough to get another contract.
Of all the players that have endured chunks of the year at the zebras he was the unluckiest for mine.
His form was relatively good even when he was dropped and I think he has the quality to be an excellent squad player moving forward. He is a wingman for mine more than a half back.
I'll be surprised if he gets cut.
Billings and Roberton need to be signed up asap as well leaving a few others with some nervous waiting to see if they will be kept.
Lonie is one that would be very nervous.
Montagna should follow Roo out the door along with Holmes.

Re: Shane Savage
There are half a dozen players that would get axed ahead of Shane.
He's not that old yet and his experience will be useful next year with Roo and hopefully Joey going.

Re: Shane Savage
I've been worried about him for a long time... he just didn't appear to be that good at any one thing. Kind of symbolic of the whole team for large parts of the season (look good at times, do a few nice things every game but tended to come up short more often than not).
He had an extended run at Sandy to work on a few things in his game... did and has come back better than ever. Has been great since his return.
Def stays in the best 22
Wish they would use this strategy with Mav

Re: Shane Savage
Really happy to see him forcing his way into the best 22 each week. Could not possibly be dropped on current form and I would be dirty if we cut him now
Always loyal

Re: Shane Savage
Good to see Randy Savage run into some form recently, particularly after almost fading into obscurity.
Let's see how he goes for the of the season and assess his future then.

Re: Shane Savage
He was gone five weeks ago, but now with Roo and probably Joey done, he'll probably survive another year.

"Papers stamped", according to many big-noters here just a couple of months ago.
Has had to earn his selection and he isn't giving up his spot in the team.

Re: Shane Savage
It would appear that Shane Savage has a WEE bit more G&D Than many posters on HERE! Good on him I say! There again, Internet fan forum posters know SO much more than those who are actually INVOLVED in the club! Re: Shane Savage
He's one that gets very little leeway on here.
Has been in top 5 players in 3 -4 games since he came back.
Why would we get rid of a bloke with his speed and kicking abilities
He is a confidence player....hopefully the penny has dropped that he belongs and will continue to play with confidence.

Re: Shane Savage
Seems to play better without Joey in the side , just seems to play more sure of himself and more adventurous about taking the game on..... Looks very good
And the president said " I did not have sex with that woman"
And our former president said " Football is like golf"
Go Sainters !!!!!

agree.. we could not afford Joey and Sav together.
Both too weak defensively especially in the air
But can afford to have one and Sav is playing that role well and working very hard so well done to him for sticking at it!

Re: Shane Savage
The team is better with him in the side. He has his faults (aerially, turnovers etc) but he has many positives. Saints lack outside speed which he makes up part of the gap. His booming kick is a weapon. Savage also attacks and takes the game on. Yes sometimes it doesn't come off. With the number of saints players unable to kick the ball 40m let alone 60m they desperately need someone with the ability to clear the ball

He is playing and applying himself in a way where he wants his career to continue. Has done more than enough to keep his spot.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Yes agree, give him a contract, if not, at least he has some trade currency now!!!!!Bruce G McAbee wrote:He is playing and applying himself in a way where he wants his career to continue. Has done more than enough to keep his spot.
