A huge crowd given the Roo factor. Surely we can crack 25K?

rough guess- between 26-29k
I suggest some families with limited funds to pay the high cost, have pencilled in a game late in the year,
but will bring it forward and go this weekend,
in case Rooey's knees prohibit his movement and he might miss their preferred game.
The fly in the ointment- a Sunday game which is usually family time and junior footy?
keeping numbers down

(btw it got to 14 deg in Perth today, about 3pm it bucketed down and reminded me of good ol' Melbourne weather when I was living there!)

We've lost the last three and are on the brink of elimination. Also, factor in the Sunday time slot. I can't see a decent attendance for a Weagles game.

Plenty of eagles fans over, but most of them are in Fitzroy St. And Footscray, looking to score.

Great guess DDB. 21600 the official crowd. 4,000 WCE fans trapped at the docks waiting for a cocaine importation that was intercepted by the Feds.dals_da_bomb wrote:21500 - if todays anything to go by - its freezing!

Pretty poor crowd. Etihad doesn't draw well for us sadly unless it's two Melbourne teams and a night game.

Re: Guess The Crowd: Rooey's Saints vs. Eagle Junkies
Don't we have 42,000 members?
So less than half turned up to a home game when we are in the running for finals.
What is wrong with the rest of them?
We have a lot of very very SOFT supporters.

Sounds about right. We've probably got about twenty-thousand-odd diehard supporters, but the rest are fair weather supporters.Enrico_Misso wrote: What is wrong with the rest of them?

Hmmm I'm worried they won't turn up again to the MCG next weekend.

Re: Guess The Crowd: Rooey's Saints vs. Eagle Junkies
I missed the game with my son, as we probably will the next three games because he plays footy himself on a Sunday afternoon. He wasn't at all pleased when I said I was going to watch Roo play his last few games instead of going to his footy.
Re: Guess The Crowd: Rooey's Saints vs. Eagle Junkies
I resent that statement that I and my wife are fair weather supporters. We both dragged ourselves out of bed yesterday suffering a BAD bout of Gastro and flu. We sat in the OUTDOORS last weekend in the rain. When was the last time you felt the rain at a Saints game Sainternist. We are full members and would love to be at every game but due to circumstances cannot get to melbourne every week. I and 1000s of our members are the in the same boatSainternist wrote:Sounds about right. Noddy - even if you didnt have gastro - and you choose not to go to the game - you are not a fair weather supporter in my books.

Re: Guess The Crowd: Rooey's Saints vs. Eagle Junkies
I can certainly vouch for the validity of your point re: " sitting in the OUTDOORS last weekend in the rain" noddy04..... it also fell on my old noggin! Like your good wife and self, I got a nice bout of 'flu as a somewhat dubious "souvenir" of the time spent at Adelaide Oval. Meeting up with you at 1/2 time certainly brightened the day for me!noddy04 wrote:I resent that statement that I and my wife are fair weather supporters. As for "supporters" and being "soft" , well at various times yesterday, you could have heard a pin drop in the Saints areas. It's NOT always about numbers. ( in my humble opinion ) but in the quality of "support" for mine, it's all well, and good having 35k - 40k in attendance, but if those people are going to sit like silent statues when the going gets tough, then numbers count for nothing (other than revenue). I include myself as one who can go very quiet at times.
Even worse, is the awful levels of whinging, bitching and moaning that one hears during periods when things are not going swimmingly.
I guess if folk pay out their hard-earned for a membership, then they've the right to choose just how they are going to support the team. My heart goes out to our interstate members, who only get to see their team once or twice a season, and often see them beaten badly.
