Re: St Kilda set to hand coach Alan Richardson contract exte
Good news.
Happy that he will have a free run at 2018, doesn't need the outside noise that Buckley and Rocket are dealing with.
Also means the board still think he's the right man for the job, meaning the message is getting thru and the players are still committed to him and his game plan.

Please don't make me click on that again as I don't subscribe and I couldn't get out of that page. What's the gist? How long?

Nothing specified Jack, it only says that he will enter in 2018 with a contract extension....
More to come...

Re: St Kilda set to hand coach Alan Richardson contract exte
Obviously the club are happy with him if the article is correct. But whats the rush he has another year on his current contract, I just dont think he has done enough YET to warrant an early extension? If the club goes backwards next year how will they look having given him an extension?
Then you read ITK comments suggesting the Saints arent a well drilled side that play sloppy footy I have real concerns.
I get the impression that Richo is a great bloke but not the sharpest operator in the coaching ranks.

Re: St Kilda set to hand coach Alan Richardson contract exte
well, isn't that the best news this year, by far.
The club will stand by its coach
Looking for a new coach means getting a whole new plan from scratch,
so long term recruiting plans will have to be redrawn.
Stability is great.
We know what we're getting.
9 wins in 2016
Maybe 10 this year if we're lucky
2018- treading water while others overtake us (i.e. we go backwards really- see Demons, Tigers, Hawks)
and...expect to see Carlscum, Hawks n Norf win more than us next year and push us down the pecking order
2019- priority draft pick as we tied with Lions for wooden spoon in 2018.

There's pros and cons with decision.Devilhead wrote:Con won't be happy!
I'm with Con, I am far from happy.

Re: St Kilda set to hand coach Alan Richardson contract exte
I'm in two minds about this...
1. Give him til about rd 6 next season to show that he's addressing the concerns we've all noted and I wld be happy to extend then
2. If he entered next season with the finals or bust mentality... he wld be likely to try and make big, bold short term gain style decisions out of desperation. Desparation does not go hand in hand with good decisions

If we can win these last four games, then I'll have a bit more faith in this being the right decision. At the moment, it seems a little premature. On the other hand, it is good to hear the chemistry is very strong between him and the club.

Dont cast me or the others as so fickle. We are pretty fair in MY judgement.
However i do feel you baited me for this response.

Great news. Well done Richo and well done to the Club. Looks like we've got an Administration with its head screwed on, and one that values the S word, stablity.

I am not overly happy with this. Too early to make this call. Our skills are sub par, we don't have a plan b regarding our game plan, our kicking at goal in one of the worst in the league, many players seem to have gone backwards and I could go on. Wait until mid next year as it will give him one more pre season and some talent to work with i.e. draft or trade players

Re: St Kilda set to hand coach Alan Richardson contract exte
I'm neither "overly happy" or " overly annoyed" over this, Colleague. However, I remain reasonably confident in this current St Kilda FC administration and their overall plans for success. One of the absolute prerequisites for the success of the club is STABILITY, and by getting on the front foot here, in my humble opinion, we are expressing faith in the coach and players to get the job done.DJ Higgins wrote:I am not overly happy with this. History, of course, will judge the wisdom or otherwise, of this move. I for one, am happy to be avoiding a repeat of 2011. Other of my colleagues may well disagree with me.
Go Saints!
