I was a little peed off last night but after cooling my jets it was quite plain to see that if we actually held on and won that game everyone would have been saying that it was one of our most gutsiest wins of the season - away to a likely top 4 side at one of the hardest grounds in the league to win at

But no no no - we are hopeless, sack the frickin coach, get rid of players, burn the recruitment team, yada yada yada ........

Think we all need to take a long calm intake of air and clear our heads

The side we put out yesterday was the 2nd youngest in the league this week and realistically we were never going to challenge for the Premiership this year - as it stands we are still developing and we have a massive, ginormous, gargantuan war chest ready to splurge.

Jaxons is quite right when he says that we are sloppy and indirect, however the more these guys play games together the more well drilled they will become and as they get older the more their bodies will hardened to the rigors of playing AFL - yesterday we saw the future of the St Kilda footy club and with the right development there is light at the end of the tunnel - add some mid field creme through the war chest and sort out our forward line woes and things start to look pretty good

That said the AFL competition is so tight these days - as a previous poster pointed out - with a bit of luck we could nearly be in the top 4

As it stands we can still make finals if we win our final 4 games and get a little % boost - all games to come are winnable and we are coming from an apparently impossible position which is dangerous for other sides above us - West Coast are beatable in Melbourne, Dees have lost Hogan, North are definitely beatable and then there is the Tigers
For starters, noone has suggested 'sacking' Richo. So that is a strawman.

Secondly we werent the 2nd youngest side of the week. So that is a flat out lie.

Thirdly - look at the previous two games. Thrashed by Essendon (10th) and thrashed by the Swans (6th).

Next - Port are not a top 4 side.

So the angst on here is not knee jerk. Nor is it based solely on last night's game.

It is a body of work.

A couple of posters have declared Richo a hack and called for his head - so yes some supporters do want him "sacked"

According to Footywire we were the 3rd youngest side this week and would have been the 2nd youngest if weren't for Gaz being pulled from the GC side - so we were the 2nd youngest before this late out (and this was reported during the week)

We were thrashed by Essendon coming off 2 consecutive 6 day breaks one of those coming back from Perth and the other after the emotionally draining Maddies game - but hey a developing side should never be affected by these issues

Swans .... well they are just a great cohesive team with plenty of finals experience and very hard to beat in Sydney

Port are 5th - one win out of top 4 with the 2nd best % in the league - they are likely to finish in the top 4 - they also had an average of 40 more games experience per player playing yesterday

I believe the majority of the angst on here is knee jerk and reactionary coming off last nights loss and the two before

There are 4 more H&A games to go so our body of work for this season is yet to be completed

The Devil makes work for idle hands!!!
